About the Clerk's Office

The Ulster County Clerk's Office acts as Custodian of the records for the County. We oversee records dating back to 1683 including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, maps, civil and criminal actions. Yearly, hundreds of people search, file and record land records, legal documents and court papers in the office.

IMPORTANT DMV INFORMATION:

DMV Update: NYS DMV has notified us of some changes in processing of DMV transactions.

• The Governor has extended license expiration dates until Nov. 3rd. We are anticipating that he will continue to extend the expiration date for Driver's License that expired after March 1, 2020 but we are encouraging individuals to make an appointment to renew.
• The Governor is allowing online driver's license renewals with a 12 month vision test deferral. Please remember if you are re...newing or upgrading to a real or enhanced license you must make an appointment to come into our office.
• The Governor extended car registrations and non driving ID's until Nov. 3rd. After this date there will be NO FURTHER EXTENSIONS. You can renew online (which lowers our retention) or use our drop box, or mail the renewal to Ulster County Clerk's Office, 244 Fair Street, Kingston 12401.
• Please remember if you are renewing your non driving ID and wish to upgrade it to a real or enhanced ID you must make an appointment at our office.

The Ulster County Clerk's Office is located in the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (845) 340-3288.

Meet the County Clerk

Nina Postupack started with the Ulster County Clerk’s Office in 1979 becoming Deputy County Clerk in 1982.  She served in the capacity of Chief Deputy County Clerk for fifteen years.  Upon the retirement of Albert Spada, she was appointed by Governor Pataki as Acting County Clerk.  She had the honor of being elected the 45th Ulster County Clerk and took office in January, 2006.
