2013 Hurricane Webinar Series for Educators ARCHIVE
The 2013 Hurricanes: Science and Society (HSS) Webinar Series for Educators is presented by The University of Rhode Island, Graduate School of Oceanography in partnership with the Centers for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE). Special thanks to our panelists from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This series of three, 1-hour webinars will focus on current topics in tropical storms and preparation for the upcoming 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Each webinar is designed to provide educators with an opportunity to "meet" some of the top hurricane forecasters and scientists in the country, while learning about their research and being introduced to a range of hurricane related topics. Target audiences are informal science educators, instructors of high school, instructors of undergraduate level courses, and other educators. National Hurricane Center: Hurricane Webinar 2022 Hurricane Webinar 2022 A free webinar on hurricanes was offered to grades 4 through 8 on Thursday, May 5, 2022. The webinar featured forecasters from the National Hurricane Center speaking about hurricane science. This webinar is presented by the Hurricanes: Science and Society (HSS) Team at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography (URI/GSO) in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Hurricane Center (NHC). The purpose of these webinars is to raise understanding and awareness of hurricanes, hurricane hazards, and hurricane preparation. The webinar is approximately 1 hour, including the Q&A.
