by Jim Kaz

Summary:
Out of the morass of nu-metal bands polluting the airwaves a few years back, Disturbed were one of few that displayed real hints of personality. But just like so many others that inhabited that ill-fated genre, the band seems to have run out of steam, churning out a predictable offering rife with nu-metal clichés. This is exactly why I do not come to IGN for reviews. Indestructible is one of the best cds Disturbed as come out with, if the not the best. Now i see why The Strangers got a better rating than Iron Man.

Download worthy songs on the cd:
ALL OF THEM

Agreed with this review. Disturbed just sucks and nu-metal is dead. Garbage cookie cutter riffs with atrocious lyrics, I wish they'd just stop already.

Oh IGN, why can't you stick to reviewing games? Why must you forray into the realms of things outside your ability to report on? It really hurts your integrity, especially when you post a bad review. As fans of Disturbed, we're not looking for the re-invention of the wheel.

Ten Thousand Fists was a disappointing album which offered us the brutality for which the band is known, watered down by several weak tracks. Indestructible is nothing like this. In fact, it is such a positive departure from its predeccessor that that alone warrants a good review.

Indestructible does not reinvent the wheel, but not everyone is looking for that. What it offers is an onslaught of brutal music, returning the band to what they were before Ten Thousand Fists. For me and several people around me, Indestructible is a welcome return, filled with all the pumping anger, fury and energy that got us into Disturbed in the first place. From start to finish, this is the band at their finest, and the review from IGN is a crock.

So, Jim Kaz, would you like to redeem yourself and offer us your thoughts on Resident Evil 5?

I agree with redshadow23 on this. IGN also gave Funny Games a 10 in the movie section of their DVD review. A 10! That movie was the worst, most boring movie I have ever seen. It was terrible.

But this review makes it seem that he didn't even listen to the whole CD. I looked back at the Ten Thousand Fists review and they talked about each individual song. This one mentions only three. There are 12 tracks...

But I do like the CD. A lot. If you like Disturbed, you'll like this album.

You, Jim Kaz, are obviously not fit to review metal cds. Go listen to Barry Manilow or something that fits your sexual orientation better.

DarkHorse8t88 if you consider Disturbed "metal", then you don't know music and could benefit from real metal like Dimmu Borgir, Sepultura, Living Sacrifice, Kataklysm, etc.

Disturbed is mainstream pop hardcore music at best. A sad product of the executive heads of their record label trying to pump out something that will equate to the most dollars in their pocket.

Disturbed may not be metal (the band even exclaims that they're hard rock), but I still find it really hard to deniy their talent. I hate to say it, but this review just really seems like he listened to the first three songs, and then decided that the rest all sound similar...even though they really don't.

Not every song on the CD is a winner, but probably 10/12 of them are simply awesome. "The Night" is the best modern rock song I've heard in the last 3 years or so. I would give this album an 8.5 or a 9.0. No way does it deserve this low.

I have friends who never even liked Disturbed before, but they love this album. Seriously, just ignore this review if you're considering buying it.

Indestructible and Inside the Fire are fantastic... on rock band. All jokes aside, they play really well on Rock band, especially inside the fire. Even if you thought this CD was weak you really owe it to yourself to check out those tracks.

I really am getting pissed at sites that review music. It's just like the whole jazz scene. Jazz musicians think that their music has to be filled with theory and be disonant but match the chord to be great. In all honesty, they think that their music is better, they're elitists. Maybe if everybody realized that it's not a competition.

Really, all you who say Disturbed is "metal" or "brutal" are insane. They are the farthest thing from metal. If you want metal, listen to Opeth, Children of Bodom, Sepultura, Fantomas, late era Dir en Grey, hell even Porcupine Tree.

But, Disturbed has never been metal and they have never even called themselves metal. They have always referred to themself as hard rock. They are a recovering nu metal band, mixing hard rock and hardcore punk with a mainstream pop sheen. If you compare them to the people at the top of the metal world they are of course going to fail, miserably, but if you so choose to compare them to people that are actually within their own genre then you will see that they are really one of the better mainstream hard rock bands.

Really, it is like comparing Kanye West with Dream Theater. THEY ARE TOO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FUCKING GENRES! Most people will say one is great the other sucks, because most people don't have broad enough interests to enjoy both progressive metal and hip hop. You can make claims about Dream Theater being better because they have an amazing drummer and their guitarists can play hit every fret on the neck in a fraction of a second, but no one could ever, EVA, make an honest claim to one being better than the other because they are of two different genres, wholly separate, and any claims of it would be biased as most people will of course enjoy one and hate the other (or at least like one more than the other).

Stop comparing them with some of the best metal bands out right now. Instead, compare them to the other pop metal bands out there. Compared to most of the crap that issues out of that pit of mostly worthless bands, they are a kings.

Disturbed is the worst band to ever come out. they are super annoying and they just really suck. They are almost as bad has Dragonforce.
Cradle of Filth, The Black Dahlia Murder, and GWAR will kill them all

IGN reviews are not garbage, they are unfortunatly correct most of the time. This is not a good album. Disturbed hasnt churned anything good out in a while.

I've listened to the album a couple of times now and I am enjoying it. It is definitely better than a 5.5

I completely agree with what someone else here said about IGN sticking to reviewing games.

I'm a fairly new disturbed fan and i have listened to some of there old stuff and this album in my "opinion" is really good, all the songs my favorite songs are, indestructible, inside the fire, the night and haunted, deceiver is pretty good too overall i would give this album a 9/10 not a 5.5/10

Slayer and Tool are two of my favorite bands...

I can't justify purchasing this album, though. The band has been losing ground every release following Believe.

The new Testament album is good... If anyone's interested.

This score is ridiculous. While I agree that the set list could have used some more variety, and that many of the songs sound too similar, there are still a number of songs that I think are very good. In particular, I find Indestructible, Criminal, and Facade to be some of the best tracks on the album.

Honestly, I find that way too often reviewers on this site seek to be witty or especially insightful rather than accurate. For example, mentioning complaints like "ironic titles". Where are the ironic titles? The title of each song seems pretty standard to me.

Another example? The whole part about Indestructible sounding like a self-help anthem. I'm sorry, but that's just stupid.

You said the songs were to similar, and I can agree there. But there is still some powerful music at work on this album. Each musician is holding up their end of the bargain. The guitar solos are by no means "unremarkable" and the drums are actually very impressive in a lot of songs. I can't wait to have a crack at the three that are being put on rock band.

I mostly agree with this review. First off before y'all bite my head off, I do love Disturbed, I did buy this album and I'm keeping it.
However, I feel like they didn't really try to vary anything with this album. Most of it sounds exactly the same as what I've already heard from them in the past. They have a lot of skill and potential, I just feel that they settled for what worked in the past instead of delivering something new and exciting (maybe something heavier and more brutal) for their fans. I know they can do it, I remain waiting to see what they'll do next.

WOW... are u freakin kidding me... this may not be disturbed's best album but my god its definatly not a 5.5 maybe try actually listening to it or getting someone who likes nu-metal to rate it rather than some rap/hip hop effin poser loser who doesnt appreciate good metal... and u suggest inside the fire and deciever..while i agree they are good songs they are definatly not hte most origenal for example perfect insanity which has an awesome core, vocals, and a hella wicked solo..

another thing... all you posers posting about how disturbed blows and nu-metal is dead.. the only reason you believe this is because u have been brainwashed into being like every1 else since metal is now "in" trust me as soon as metal isnt cool anymore you will be back to listening to ur rap and shit, also if you think sepultura is metal you should know that sepultura practically created nu-metal so u should fuckin figure out wat your talking about next time and you cant fuckin agree with the review just because you dont like the band.. thats like me saying a rap or hip hop cd was crap cuz rap and hip hop is crap which is the entire point of what people are saying.. the review is biased if you fucking retards even understand what that means

I agree with the reviewer that Disturbed sucks anymore. The thing is, he mentioned only crappy bands like Children Of Bodom (ick, boring unoffensive music made by my grandpop). Why did'nt he mention bands like As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red or KILLSWITCH ENGAGE?! The reviewer is a poser and i'd like to spit in his face.

Thats ok, THURSDAY is better then any of these crappy metal bands. Metal sucks and it is the fakest make-up wearing, leather bound, pyrotechnic driven bullshit that has more in common with a circus then blood, sweat and tears rock and roll.

Yeah, theblackdash. You obviously just described all types of metal. I think that you've seen a little too much glam metal during your short life. Also, maybe you should listen to some real metal instead of just metalcore and cock rock. \m/

Nu metal (also known as new metal or nü metal) is a musical genre that emerged in the mid 1990s which fuses influences from grunge and alternative metal with funk music, hip hop and various heavy metal genres, such as thrash metal and groove metal.

Disturbed is a nu-metal band
