Standing for AD 49

In 2019 Bobbie McGowan stood from AD 49 for the California Democratic Party Central Committee.

My name is Bobbie McGowan and I am a former Mayor of Temple City and a progressive Democrat. I bring with me the wisdom, experience, and connections that you only get from fighting in the trenches for over 30 years. I have served our party in many capacities and plan on doing so for a long time to come.

I am a member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. I am also an active member of the following clubs: United Democrats of the San Gabriel Valley where I serve as a board member, Democrats of the Pasadena Foothills of which I was a founding member, and the Foothill Community Democrats. I am a member of both the Progressive Caucus and the Veterans Caucus. I was elected to attend the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. I am a former chair of the 42nd AD and have previously served both as an E-Board Representative and as an ADEM Delegate.

In 2017 I was awarded a Certificate of Recognition as, The Great Civic Leader Honoree, by the Democratic Headquarters of the West San Gabriel Valley. In 2017 I was also awarded both a Certificate of Appreciation from Judy Chu as well as a Commendation from the Los Angeles Community College District presented to me by Mike Eng. I have served as the president of the Temple City Education Association where I spent my career teaching our youth. I am a proud recipient of the prestigious California Teacher’s Association WHO award.[1]
