How to Apply for a License

If you would like to become an official Navy licensee and meet the requirements listed on the licensing page, click below for the standard application. The same application and requirements apply for licensees who are renewing.

Applications must include:

  • A statement of intent explaining your interest in obtaining a license, as well as a list of the products to be produced and a product catalog, if one is available
  • A summary of your company’s background, including its mission statement, business goals and history
  • A detailed business plan outlining the company’s proposed strategy for production, distribution and sale of products with the Navy insignia
  • Written confirmation that the company carries commercial liability insurance documenting coverage in amounts not less than one million ($1,000,000) per occurrence
  • A comprehensive list detailing where your Navy branded merchandise will be manufactured
  • Artwork for review and approval by the trademark program prior to production to ensure the Navy trademarks are appropriately and accurately represented
  • Product samples for evaluation of materials, quality and quality control. If you would like the product samples returned, you are required to provide a pre-paid return shipping label

IMPORTANT NOTICE

If your application is approved you still need to ensure you are authorized to proceed. Please ensure the following below items have been accomplished:

  • You have received a fully executed Trademark License signed by the Navy
  • Physical samples of your products have been approved
  • You have provided the Navy’s trademark and licensing with proof of product liability insurance that names the Navy as an additional insured
  • You have submitted the corresponding schedules and agreements for artwork, standards of manufacturing practices, manufacturing and business plan(s).
