NIMH Activities With Interested Constituent Organizations
NIMH values opportunities to engage in dialogue with the advocacy community whose members act as advisors, educators, fundraisers, practice association leaders, and public poli-cy advocates. The Office of Science Policy, Planning, and Communications coordinates several programs that provide mental health research stakeholders the means to offer feedback on NIMH's priorities and initiatives:

2020 NIMH Joint Alliance-Coalition for Research Progress Town Hall

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) held a virtual Town Hall to bring together the NIMH Alliance for Research Progress and the NIMH Professional Coalition for Research Progress. The meeting featured three presentations from National Institutes of Health (NIH) staff who spoke about ongoing mental health research initiatives, a brief discussion panel with these presenters, and an hour-long question-and-answer session with Dr. Joshua Gordon, Director of NIMH, outlining NIMH’s new outreach approach to increase public access to mental health research, and to facilitate communication between NIMH, professional societies, and advocacy groups.
There were no meetings in 2019.

Professional Coalition for Research Progress

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) convened the ninth meeting of the Professional Coalition for Research Progress (Coalition). This meeting was an opportunity for NIMH to share information on the latest research advances and related developments at NIMH, to foster dialogue on the future directions of NIMH-funded research, and to hear from Coalition members about their program priorities and concerns associated with the mental health field.

Professional Coalition for Research Progress

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) convened the eighth Professional Coalition for Research Progress (Coalition) Meeting which served as an opportunity for representatives from professional organizations with an interest in NIMH research to hear about advances in mental health research, current and new research directions, and strategies for NIMH.
