Dr. Charles H. Romine currently is performing the nonexclusive functions and duties of the under secretary of commerce for standards and technology and NIST director.
Prior to taking on this role, he was the Associate Director for Laboratory Programs (ADLP), the purpose of which is to advance trust in measurement and technology in service to the nation. As ADLP, he provided direction and operational guidance for all of NIST's scientific and technical laboratory programs, and served as principal deputy to the Undersecretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and NIST Director, among other duties.
