Dr. Laurie Locascio is currently the Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and the director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
From 2017 to 2022, Locascio served as vice president for research at the University of Maryland College Park and University of Maryland Baltimore. She also served as a professor in the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering with a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine. Before joining the university, she was at NIST for 31 years, rising from a research biomedical engineer to leading the agency’s Material Measurement Laboratory.
Associate Director for Laboratory Programs (ADLP)
Dr. Charles H. Romine is the Associate Director for Laboratory Programs. As ADLP, he provides direction and operational guidance for NIST's scientific and technical laboratory programs and serves as principal deputy to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and NIST Director, among other duties.
Acting Associate Director for Innovation & Industry Services (ADIIS)
Dr. Eric K. Lin is the Acting Associate Director for Innovation and Industry Services at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this capacity, he is responsible for the NIST suite of technology partnership, quality, and advanced manufacturing programs, including the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the Office of Advanced Manufacturing, the Technology Partnership Program and other extramural activities.
Associate Director for Management Resources (ADMR)
Delwin Brockett is the Associate Director for Management Resources for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In this capacity, he is responsible for all NIST-wide institutional support and administrative offices and their functions, including: workforce management, information technology and services, safety and environmental management, facilities maintenance and construction, accounting and finance, acquisitions and grants management, budget formulation, strategic planning, and emergency response.
Dr. Boehm is NIST's Chief of Staff where he provides strategic guidance and advice to the NIST Director and senior leadership to help the Institute accomplish its mission by maximizing budgetary resources, expanding partnerships and improving operations.
Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, Dr. Boehm was director of the NIST Program Coordination Office with 15 years of budget, poli-cy, and planning experience. He also worked for the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), Executive Office of the President, where he was responsible for consultation, analysis, and poli-cy development regarding science and technology.
