The Great Lakes Regional Team takes on a variety of special projects each year, which are chosen in collaboration with all team members. These projects address the needs of our constituents and are often collaborative efforts among multiple NOAA programs and regional partners.

Updated NOAA In the Great Lakes video
The Great Lakes Regional Team partnered with Great Lakes Outreach Media (David Ruck) to produce a new video highlighting all the critical work that NOAA does in the Great Lakes. The video, available on YouTube, was released in September 2024.
New Great Lakes Regional Coordinator
Rebecca Held Knoche, formerly NOAA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative program coordinator, was named the new coordinator of the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Team in February 2024.
GLERL celebrating 50th anniversary in 2024
Designated on April 25, 1974, the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) was established to provide a focus for NOAA’s environmental and ecosystem research in the Great Lakes and coastal marine environments. GLERL Director Deborah Lee is the NOAA Great Lakes Regional Team lead.
