About ProcessLibrary.com

ProcessLibrary.com was launched in 2004. Written in plain English and free to all PC users, this Web site provides a unique and detailed online database that lists everything that should, and should not be running on your computer. In the first three years ProcessLibrary.com has already attracted five million hits every month!

Deep in the recesses of any computer, innumerable processes are running silently in the background. Some hog system resources, drastically slowing computers down; others are a haven for spyware and trojans, violating privacy and giving hackers free access to compromised systems.

ProcessLibrary.com has grown to become the definitive reference point for anyone who needs comprehensive information on these processes. Explanations are accompanied by exhaustive advice on whether the processes are important for the stable and secure running of your system. The website also recommends if you should terminate processes or leave them untouched.

The team behind ProcessLibrary

At the beginning of the 90s computers were our big passion. There was always something to tinker, upgrade and optimize. DR DOS, Norton Commander, Disk Doctor, scan from McAfee, VGA copy, Turbo Pascal, 5.25" floppies and later Netscape were the daily bread.

Over time, more and more friends and acquaintances asked if we could help them with their computer problems. Since these were mostly caused by some programs and Windows services and we gained more and more experience about the individual processes, we soon put on extensive lists.

Meanwhile, we are old computer guys, the user interfaces are more modern, yet there are still problems and somehow they always remained the same. That's why we still maintain our process lists today and put the information online. The website is self-supporting, as we occasionally place advertisements. In the meantime we develop software ourselves, ia. for school networks and the visually impaired, and remain faithful to the old programming school, that is small, resource-saving and hopefully error-free programs like at DOS times.
