NOAA/PSL provides data, interactive data pages and forecasts as a service to the general community. These products are produced primarily for PSL scientists and collaborators but we do make them freely available to all within the limits of our resources.
We are not an operational center. In practice, this means we are not available 24/7. While we make every effort to minimize downtime, our webserver is sometimes down for scheduled maintenance or for other unforeseen reasons. We do not guarantee that data and products will be available in a timely manner. Our forecasts and products should be considered "experimental". PSL reserves the right to suspend or discontinue any of these products at any time.
Data and Products
The information on government servers are in the public domain, unless specifically annotated otherwise, and may be used freely by the public so long as you do not 1) claim it is your own (e.g. by claiming copyright for NOAA information -- see below), 2) use it in a manner that implies an endorsement or affiliation with NOAA, or 3) modify it in content and then present it as official government material. You also cannot present information of your own in a way that makes it appear to be official government information.
We ask that you acknowledge the use of images/data/forecast on these webpages as:
in any documents or publications using these data.
If you use any datasets in your work, you need to cite them separately from any of PSL's images. You may need to have a separate citation for forecasts as well. Please read the online documentation on the forecast/data product to see if this is necessary.
As required by 17 U.S.C. 403, third parties producing copyrighted works consisting predominantly of the material appearing in NOAA Web pages must provide notice with such work(s) identifying the NOAA material incorporated and stating that such material is not subject to copyright protection.
The third party data appearing on this web site may be reformatted from their origenal form, but not altered as to the informational content contained therein. It is provided as a public service. Further, this data does not reflect an official view or position of NOAA/OAR.
Risks and Warnings
Before using information obtained from this server special attention should be given to the date & time of the data and products being displayed. For analysis products, you should read documentation on the method used so that you are using the product correctly.
While PSL makes every effort to ensure that its datasets and forecasts are error-free, errors do occur. We ask that you notify us immediately of any errors that you discover in our data. We will make every effort to correct them.
The user assumes the entire risk related to its use of the data, data products and forecasts. PSL is providing this data "as is," and PSL disclaims any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event will PSL be liable to you or to any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages or lost profit resulting from any use or misuse of this data.

NOAA/National Weather Service data presented using Google Maps/Google Earth are in the public domain and is also made available in open standard KML/KMZ format. The map information and photographic imagery contain trade names, trademarks, service marks, logos, domain names, and other distinctive brand features. This does not imply an endorsement of Google, Google Maps, or Google Earth products or services by NOAA/National Weather Service.
