Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) | University of Kentucky Research

What we do at the Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO)

The CRSO supports investigators and clinical research study teams in departments, centers, and colleges across campus to conduct clinical research. The office aims to reduce administrative burdens, enhance compliance, and help remove barriers to enable efficiency, internal/external collaboration, cost recovery, and growth of clinical trials at the university.

Message from the Director

Message from the Director

The University of Kentucky Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) was founded nearly five years ago. Since then, the CRSO team have worked to provide outstanding customer service to researchers conducting NIH defined clinical trials and, more recently, teams who use UK HealthCare (UKHC) services for their research needs. Our reporting structure also changed recently, when we moved from the College of Medicine to the Office of the Vice President for Research in winter 2023.

Although we have evolved and grown, our mission remains the same: to assist investigators and their teams across campus to facilitate compliance, cost reimbursement, and participant data management through the development and application of best practices. We do this by leveraging technology, like our clinical trial management software and integrations with UKHC’s electronic health record system, training study teams and developing and disseminating guidelines and standard operating procedures for clinical research.

The CRSO strives to increase patient access to clinical research on health conditions that affect Kentuckians the most. As such, we continue to offer a range of services to support many aspects of clinical research projects, including coverage analysis, financial management, regulatory support and participant recruitment. We appreciate the opportunity to work with research teams to meet their needs, help teams network with other teams inside and outside the university and find answers to study team questions!

The CRSO would not exist without the generous support of the Office of the Vice President for Research and UKHC. We also maintain close, strategic partnerships with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and the University of Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational Science. We thank each of these partners for their continued support of the CRSO.
