The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has a geographic information system (GIS). With it, data from many sources, such
as accidents, construction, road inventories, pavements, demographics and open space is used to produce maps that support the
Departments work in planning, highway, rail, aviation and maritime.
These databases and maps enable NJDOT to work and plan cooperatively with other governmental agencies.
