ad NCRFC Quantitative Precipitation Forecast (QPF)
National Weather Service United States Department of Commerce
NCRFC incorporates 24 hours of QPF during Spring & Summer, and 48 hours of QPF during Fall & Winter for NWS River Forecasts.
Five days of QPF are used in our analysis for the Significant River Flood Outlook.
Forecasters at NCRFC generate QPF around 6 am and 6 pm for Days 1 through 5 using guidance from NWS Weather Prediction Center (WPC), Weather forecast offices, and current weather models. Each afternoon QPF is updated for Day 1 and Day 2, and more frequently as needed during active weather or for hydrologically significant events.
