Does your child have a dream of showing off their own end zone dance? Or maybe they're eager to get into the game and learn the fundamentals of one of the most exciting sports in America? Don't fumble — our NFL Flag Football program is the perfect opportunity to introduce your children to the sport in a fun, safe environment.
We lead drills and games that teach important skills that are useful on and off the field. In this supportive environment, kids will get a feel for the sport as they practice catching, throwing, and positioning, as well as work on their agility and coordination as a team.
At the Y, we value the importance of sportsmanship, so every game starts with a youth sports pledge and ends with a handshake. Every child receives an award at the end of the season!

NFL Flag Football FAQ
No. You do not have to be a YMCA member to participate in our NFL flag football leagues; sports are open to all in the community. However, being a member guarantees lower registration fees.

- Select the Programs banner at the top of the screen
- On the right of the screen under SPORTS & RECREATION, select NFL Flag Football
- Click the blue REGISTER button
- Find and choose the Division and Age Group for your desired location
- Select blue REGISTER button in top right of the screen
- If you ARE a YMCA member, enter your email and/or phone number. If you are NOT a YMCA member, follow the instruction to create an account.
- Click blue SIGN UP button
YMCA flag football is available to youth, ages 4 to 14.
Once registration is completed, teams and divisions will be formed. You can expect to receive notifications one week before the first practice. All practice and game schedules will be distributed with team information.
Each season, notifications about the first week of practice, first game date, no-game days, and finals game dates are communicated within the registration platform before families sign up.
NFL Flag Football players can expect to practice/play one time per week on Sundays ONLY. There will be 7 practices and 6 games. The season will begin with a Practice-Only Sunday, followed by a meet and greet with coaches, players, and their families to organize for the season ahead.
Each following week will consist of a one-hour practice session, followed by a one-hour game at the same location for your ease.
The YMCA of Central KY flag football league operates out of these 3 sites on Sundays ONLY:
Masterson Station Park: West Conference Practice/Game Site
Henry Clay High School Stadium Turf/Grass: South Conference Practice/Game Site
Frederick Douglass High School Stadium Turf/Grass: East Conference Practice/Game Site
In-session communication
The YMCA of Central Kentucky utilizes PlayerSpace, a sports league management and communication platform that connects players, parents, coaches, and sports directors. We will use PlayerSpace as our primary communication platform for sharing game schedules, team rosters, cancellations, and other essential information. Yes, financial assistance is available for YMCA of Central KY youth sports. To begin the application process, please click here. You do not need to be a YMCA member to qualify for Financial Assistance for programs. The maximum amount of financial assistance awarded for youth sports is 50% of the cost of the session.
The YMCA always welcomes the opportunity to speak with individuals looking to maintain a fun and fair playing environment for our players and their families. If you are a sports fan and are interested in this part-time work, please click here or email hr@ymcacky.org.
Anyone interested in volunteering for the YMCA should visit our website and complete this form. Parents of registered players also have an opportunity to request this information upon the completion of the player's registration.
We are grateful for our volunteer coaches! In addition to coaching the players for the season, coaches will communicate with families and Y staff to keep the program running smoothly for the entire session. Every coach must complete a background check. At the conclusion of the NFL Flag Football season, all YMCA volunteer coaches will receive 50% off a future program fee at the YMCA of Central KY.
