Adventure WV oversees more than 13,000 square feet of indoor space and manages the WVU Outdoor Education Center, the WVU Outdoor Recreation Center and Morgantown Adventure Outfitters locations.
The WVU Climbing Wall and Outdoor Recreation Center are two of the central hubs of engagement located in the WVU Student Rec Center.
The WVU Climbing Wall, designed to replicate the unique beauty of West Virginia’s outdoors, stands 50 feet tall and features over 3,500 square feet of climbing surface with more than 2,000 interchangeable hand-holds. It includes crack climbs, overhangs, dihedrals, and arêtes, catering to a wide range of skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Additionally, a bouldering cave with overhanging surfaces challenges even
the most accomplished climbers. Students of all abilities can challenge
themselves, hone their skills, and stay in shape at the WVU Climbing Wall.
The Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) houses three main areas of Adventure WV: guided trips, equipment rental and an outdoor recreation library/resource center featuring WV DIY Outdoors. The ORC offers a variety of programs for all ages and skill levels, from beginner to advanced, available year-round.
The Outdoor Education Center and Morgantown Adventure Outfitters are Adventure WV's two main off-campus locations for programming.
Located in the heart of the WVU Research Forest, just north of Coopers Rock State Forest, the WVU Outdoor Education Center offers a variety of educational and aerial adventure activities. The facility features the WVU Challenge Course, WVU Zip-Line Canopy Tour, and the Adventure Basecamp Overnight Facility. Groups can choose from single-day zip-line canopy tours, aerial adventure activities, team-building events, STEM-based zip-line programs, or custom overnight events. Programs are available for both adventure seekers and educational groups.
In partnership with the City of Morgantown, Morgantown Adventure Outfitters is home to kayak, paddleboard and bike rentals as well as guided programmatic experiences. Located along the Mon River Rail Trail, and just adjacent to the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater, Morgantown Adventure Outfitters is proud to serve the WVU and Monongalia County community.
Looking to get further off campus? From the best local attractions to iconic international destinations, the Adventure WV footprint spans across the globe.
