Our Team

State Climatologist of Oregon

Larry O’Neill is the State Climatologist of Oregon and Associate Professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. His areas of expertise include air-sea interactions, satellite meteorology and oceanography, and atmospheric boundary layer and ocean mixed layer dynamics. Larry holds a B.S. in atmospheric sciences from the University of California, Davis, and a Ph.D. in oceanography from Oregon State University

Assistant State Climatologist

Nick Siler has been an Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Science at Oregon State University since 2018. His research spans a wide range of topics in climate science and meteorology, much of it focused on the water cycle (evaporation and precipitation) and its response to climate change. Nick grew up in a small town in eastern Washington. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Harvard in 2005, and spent the next four years serving as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Washington in 2015.
