Burlington Cooling Centers – where to cool off during a heat wave
A summer heat wave can be a health risk for many people who do not have access to air conditioning, particularly for older adults, children, un-housed people, those with medical conditions, and others in vulnerable, high-risk groups.
During a heat wave, or heat advisory (two or more days of above 90 degree temps), the City of Burlington will open Cooling Centers to the public, on a walk-in basis. These centers will offer air conditioning, seating, water, and are open to all who need it.
