The emergence of TRIO programs produced three Federally Funded Programs in service of students. TRIO comprised initially of Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Service continues to provide educational services to disadvantaged students. TRIO Programs provide academic, career, and financial counseling to students and encourage them to complete milestones in their academic journey.

From the initial creation of TRIO programs, five additional programs have been added to further aid students: Educational Opportunity Centers, Veterans Upward Bound, Training Program for TRIO Programs, Ronald McNair PBA Program, Upward Bound Math/Science.

TRIO’s eight programs are targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post baccalaureate programs.
