The purpose of this simulation is to show that even a simple system of rules can produce complex behaviour over time, providing a model of change with non-deterministic aspects. The model is very simple, based on agents with a small set of rules. The experiment does not try to reproduce a realistic transition to agro-pastoral societies but instead proposes to illustrate certain theoretical issues of the understanding of such a transition.

Eighty-five engraved pieces and four painted ones form the studied collection. The chronological attribution to the Late Dryas/ beginning of the Pre-boreal is perfectly assured by the stratigraphic origen of the pieces. The technical and stylistic attributes of the figures are similar to some of the rock art of the Côa valley, making the collection an important chronological referent to a vast number of engraved and painted panels of the region. Those technical and stylistic attributes are also similar to others from Southwest Europe that are dated from the end of the Late glacial period, which denotes the affiliation of this rock art facies in a graphic tradition of a broader geographic range.

b.C. This immersion will serve to explore the question of point of view, screen and transference. It starts by an unleashing of the psychotic element of the monumental gaze, which is also a challenge to the Focaultian sense of "surveillance". Through this different understanding of the gaze direction we will then explore the role of the screen. Finally this will work to open the question of transference as it operates in archaeologists as "the subject
supposed to now". This "will to know" will close then the circle bringing us back to the symptom identified in the beginning of this paper.
Beside the "great story of evolution" archaeology has developed itself mainly as a "great story of technology and materiality". Maybe the best example can be seen in Leroi-Gourhan's concepts of "Tendance" and "Fait". In this sense archaeology contributed to a view were technology overcomes human being. This may also be exemplified by some studies which came to estimate human being through materiality. We archaeologists may argue that we study arts and crafts rather than modern technology, and that in this sense it's more human. This would be in close contact with a Heideggerian call for a "return to the basics (origens)". From my point of view this argument offers even more dangers which are necessary to expose. Coming from a country which still suffers from its 50 years of fascist dictatorship, I wish to denounce some of the dangers of this practice. Salazar's dictatorship was based on the beauty of arts and crafts, living in the country, quietude, and practice as the ultimate medium for overcoming the anguish of modern life and thinking, ideas present in Pessoa's heteronym Alberto Caeiro. All this condemn Portuguese people to become the rural picturesque playground of Europe for half a century. Today we still pay the price.
The invitation of Heidegger to the task of thinking cannot become an invitation to the task as thinking.
This paper is in a phenomenology session not because it deals with Heidegger but because it deals with the phenomenology of the task of thinking: It is thinking as practice. My conclusion deals with Bernard Stiegler's ideas of Prometeus and Hermes myths. I propose that only by Hermes gift (the polis), we can overcome the problems caused by the gift of Prometheus (fire-technology). There we can meet Holderlin's sentence that "where there is danger, A rescuing element grows as well.
monumental structures.
First seen as colonies and later as fortified settlements, these places are now
regarded as monumental places (Jorge, S. O.1994). This means a change in the
interpretation scale, to an almost semiotic level.
In this paper I will assess the importance of these sites within Ingold’s (1993) view of
a “temporality of landscape”. I will analyse the importance of a sense of ‘place’ within
architecture, through a reading of Heidegger’s seminal works and the recent studies
of Ingold (2000) and Thomas (1999). This will lead to an interrogation of the notion
of ‘architecture’ itself. As I will discuss, Castelo Velho and Castanheiro do Vento
are two sites in which building relates very closely to ‘placeness’ or to dwelling. It’s
techne and poiesis, who “brings them forth” in the world.
