PNP-HPG men arrest car thief, recover stolen vehicle
A MAN wanted for violation of Republic Act 10883 or The New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 on Thursday was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group in his hiding place in Baguio City, PNP-HPG officer-in-charge, Brig. Gen. Eleazar P. Matta said.
The suspect identified as alias “Ali” was arrested by Cordillera HPG operatives in Bgy. Loakan-Liwanag on the strength of a non-bailable warrant for violation of RA 10883 issued by Judge Modesto Bahul Jr. of the Baguio City Regional Trial Court.
Alias “Ali” is now being held at the Cordillera HPG office pending his presentation to court.
Matta also reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan on the same day during an anti-carnapping operation in Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The Toyota Innova was reported to have been stolen while parked unattended inside Francisco Homes in San Jose del Monte City. It’s location was traced in Puguis, La Trinidad municipality following an intelligence-driven operation launched by the PNP-HPG.
The possessor of the stolen vehicle is now being investigated by the Cordillera HPG, said Matta.
