Relationship between Followership Style and Performance in Service Sector

This paper describes the relationship between followership style and performance in Service Secto... more This paper describes the relationship between followership style and performance in Service Sector. 188 randomly selected mid-management responses from the two organisation were collected. A questionnaire was administered in a bank and export house, and for testing hypothesis, a multiple regression test was used. Results indicate that out of five followership styles; four styles were demonstrated i.e passive, alienated, exemplary and conformist. Conformist followership style was the most common followership style observed among the mid-management of service sector. There is a
positive relationship between high active engagement and dependent uncritical thinking leading to performance.

In this paper, we have tried to review the Organization Development Intervention (ODI) done by us... more In this paper, we have tried to review the Organization Development Intervention (ODI) done by using PRISM™ Philosophy in leading export house of Faridabad, which is now practiced in various companies in India. This research paper starts with an overview of Organization Development Intervention (ODI) aimed at improving leadership style, employee engagement, motivation factor, bringing changes in the tasks, and goal processes in the Organizations at a mid-size company in the manufacturing sector in order to enhance Organization effectiveness. The paper also focuses on job design, the division of labor and hierarchy, arrangements of equipment and people etc. Specifying the interventions initiatives taken were bringing change in communication pattern, control system, management of people. In short, all the major aspect of the organization is overhauled. Through this research paper, we also get clarity on what were the various objectives of the Organizational development programme. It concludes with some of the experiences and the achievements of Organization with PRISM™ Philosophy model in Interventions.

Imparting training is not a challenge these days, Training industry has grown multiple fold in past few years have pool of experienced and well-qualified trainers. The real challenge before imparting training session lies in two aspects one is TNA i.e. training need analysis and the other one is designing the training sessions so that it can meet the asses training need of the organization. Lot of contribution is made by learned in this field, someone well names are Daniel Stufflebeam , Warr, Bird &Rackson,, Phillips , Kaufman, Kirkpatrick Model ,out of which Kirkpatrick did pioneering work in the field and introduce the well know model " Four Level Evaluation Model " which is still very popular in training industry. Training no doubt is an important investment in terms of time, energy and money, thus it become very much essential for organization to see whether the investment is effective or not, or evaluating the investment is really required to check the impact of training. So Prism has initiated a model based on PRISM Philosophy to evaluate training session. This is descriptive paper that describe the PRISM Model in depth.

Attempt was made to determine if there is a significant relationship between leadership styles in relation to organisation effectiveness. A total of 67 randomly selected leaders from the Delhi NCR completed leadership style and organisational effectiveness questionnaires. The data indicates that in Delhi NCR: (a) leadership styles included directive, supportive, participated and action oriented leadership style. The most common leadership style among is directive leadership style. (b) there is no relationship between directive leadership styles and organisation effectiveness. (c) There is no relationship between action oriented leadership style and organisation effectiveness.

For creating or nurturing New Leaders by existing leaders, having effective leadership characteristics is key.This paper focusses on what characteristics are required by leaders for creating New Leaders. For this study 108 sample respondents had been drawn out from senior and middle management of banks and financial institution. One-Way ANOVAand Regression analysis in SPSS 22.0 have evaluated the data for finding out whether there was any significant difference in the Oke (outlook, knowledge, expertise) and 4S (Self, Social,Strategic, Systematic skills required). It identifies the underlying of the current leadership skills exist and the need for a new leadership paradigm -shift from being the best in the world to the best for the world; a shift from what’s in it for me to what’s best for the common good; and a shift from “I” to “we” by emphasising on how existing leaders and organisation together can create new leaders in system.
