NAGT is pleased to offer grants and scholarships in support of students and professionals to further their education, support career development, and support the purchase of educational materials.

Scholarships for Field Study (for Undergraduate Students)

These awards are available for students attending field courses at any time of year and can be applied to face-to-face, virtual, or hybrid courses. The intent of the awards is to support students' participation in intensive field courses in any aspect of geoscience.

Career Prep Workshop Grants (for Graduate Students)

Thanks to generous donations from NAGT members and donors, a fund was established to support students attending the Preparing for an Academic Career workshop held held at the annual Earth Educators' Rendezvous. Graduate students and post-docs interested an academic careers are encouraged to attend.

Dorothy Stout Professional Development Grants

These grants (named in honor of NAGT's first female president, Dorothy "Dottie" Stout) are awarded to faculty and students at two-year colleges and K-12 teachers in support of: participation in Earth science classes or workshops; attendance at professional scientific or science education meetings; participation in Earth science field trips; or purchase of Earth science materials for classroom use.

Earth Educators' Rendezvous Stipends

If your institution has limited resources to support your participation in the Earth Educators' Rendezvous, you may be eligible for assistance from our workshop fund. Information about stipends will be available on the Earth Educators' Rendezvous website for each year's meeting.

NAGT/USGS Cooperative Summer Fellowship Program

Started in 1965, the NAGT/USGS Cooperative Summer Fellowship Program is the longest continuously running internship program in the Earth sciences. Since it began, more than 2400 students have participated in this program with an impressive number of these individuals becoming full-time employees of the USGS. Department heads nominate students for the program.
