Dear Reader,
We're delighted to announce that our FAO-designed funding proposal for an ecosystem-based climate project in Malawi was approved at the 39th meeting of the GCF Board in Songdo, Korea.
Both the Funded Activity Agreement and project document were signed in record time, making the project operational with funds already disbursed – an unprecedented achievement!
With over USD 52 million in climate investments, the Ecosystems-based Adaptation for Resilient Watersheds and Communities in Malawi (EbAM) project is the first funding proposal approval for FAO since our reaccreditation in 2023, and the first high-impact project for FAO that’s part of GCF’s second replenishment (GCF-2).
We now have 21 high-impact projects in our GCF portfolio, and six of these projects are in African countries (Benin, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, the Gambia, Malawi and Sudan).
Visit our website here for more information on the FAO-GCF partnership and our projects in Africa.
We hope you enjoy this issue with a record number of FAO Feature Stories from Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, and Nepal.
Warm regards,
Nadine Valat
FAO-GCF Coordinator
