Me reading the love interest section: "Dull. Dull. Dull..."
Me reading the warnings: "Wait, what?! Imma gonna give this game a chance after all! No way are the love interests as boring as they sound with those warnings!" O_O
Your "Load" button does not work at all. And there is no "exist" button. It doesn't exist. You have to shut down the game from outside the game --which is a little bit annoying.
There's something wrong with the text speed chooser as well.
If this is your first attempt, it's actually pretty good. It has a lot of kinks you need to work out, but nobody's first try is perfect.
I personally prefer the Ren'Py set-up with infinite save-sloths, but your retro-game looks is pretty cute.
You may wanna go over the text tho, cuz; "I pack my thing up" and "I pack my things up", are two VERY different actions. xD (Would have been worse if the mc was a guy, but it still sounds funny when you say 'thing' instead of 'things'.)
Normally I'm not a fan of crybabies, but that guy is cute. ....which is 90% the artwork. (And I'm a sucker for long hair on men.)
Not a fan of Kyle. Kinda ugly. Kace looks decent, but if I wanted a dog I'd get a dog not a human. (And I'm more a cat person anyway.)
I AM curious about the mysterious elevator guy tho. He looked good. I wonder if he's romancable... he's not on the list.
I hope you plan to develop this game more, and fix up the bugs.
If this game lives up to it's warnings (I have my fingers crossed for romantic yandere, lol), and it gets a save that works and a few hundred save slots extra, this game could easily be a very great game I think. ^_^
I look forward to see how it turns out.
(Which in translation means I actually really like the game.
I just suck at expressing positive emotions. Probably.)
i'm so confused as to why it's so impossible for some ppl to play games with female mc's?! bc i mostly see such comments with "why is there no choosing gender or why only a woman?" in games with fem mc's.
Of course you can be gay in peace ^^but nothing is going to change about that when you sometimes would play a game with a fem MC? (of course being able to choose the gender is the best but it shouldn't be a neccessity to be able to play a game should it?). I'm a woman and i do play games with male mc's too, i would never go there and talk about why xyz -BL doesn't have a female MC to choose from.
its just simply uncomfortable and i take great discomfort in playing a a woman. BL is a certain genre specifically for queer men because there is such lack of it. im not sure why you as a woman are even playing BL games. it always seemed weird to me but thats probably because of the amount of straight women who fetishize BL so idk.
It's not impossible at all ! But i understand that person, as a gay men, playing as a female MC makes me uncomfortable because i like to self-insert myself in the game and there's nothing wrong with that, and nothing's wrong with asking the author if there's a option to add others gender's, and if they don't want to add, that's ok! the issue would be to curse the author or try to "force" them for not wanting to add that option!
i'm really sorry if im assuming wrong, but based on your name i guess you would be a woman? if so, it makes easier in your case cause that's would be your gender and it would make more sense to you and more easier to enjoy, i guess?
i mean, there's some awesome otome games out here with amazing romance options but in the end the MC is a woman and people treat her as a woman and with that some people can't self insert themselves in the game and can't enjoy, but i understand that not every game is cather to all audiences haha!
sorry for the long ass reply and sorry if i was rude! <3
I really do understand that, i think having the option to choose the gender of your mc is the best option (but not a must), bc of the maximum of self-insertion! definitely. I was more so thinking about how when there is not something like this, ppl ask only in games with female mc's for an addition. I personally haven't seen that in games with male mc's or BL's. Ppl are content playing mc's of other genders, even if it's not their own (like it should be) but the second it's a woman, ppl (men one thing but there are even nonbinary ppl that don't play games with fem characters but do with male mc or genderneutral ) avoid it until there is another gender option.
I'm a woman like you correctly assumed, but i do play games regardless of what gender my mc has. I don't limit myself to playing a game based on what gender the MC can have or not. Sometimes even if I have the choice I play as a man for some routes. I just think of my own OC's etc. So I guess, I just don't understand why this is so difficult for other ppl. You know? It's like we so rarely have female leads in anything, and we have learned to identify with male leads but the other way around it's always not happening as much at all. Be it with tv shows, books, games that have female leads and the whole misogyny of a lot of ppl, sometimes even within the target audience. And then it sometimes is a bit frustrating to see that ppl want to specifically see women get highlighted but only then there is a need to make it so that everyone is choosable? idk i definitely get where you're coming from and at the same time i'm still sad that ppl avoid games just bc it has fem mc's, as if it wasn't playable when you are not a woman. And let's not forget all these ppl fetishizing BL, but never playing any sapphic stories or whatever. But I don't think i need to tell that to you as a queer person. ^^
also thanks for your reply and you weren't rude at all :)
Hey there, i would suggest to redownload the game or you can wait for the next update for the game as i not really a great programmer, thanks for playing tho
AAAA I'm in love with this game. Noel is hands down my favorite. He is so babygirl <3 I honestly love all of their unique personalities. The game was a bit buggy but it is a demo. The visuals are beautiful and the storyline is very interesting. I'm excited to see how it will play out!
Don't want to seem insensitive but you don't need to be a woman to play a game with a fem MC... you know what i mean? Like nothing about what game with what mc you are playing is going to change what you identify as. Same would go for tv shows or books wouldn't it? Plus you can also just think of an OC. I'm a cishet woman and I still can play games with male mc's, or with ppl in queer relationships. I just think of OC's, even when playing games where I can choose the gender, in some routes I play as a woman and in some as a man.
But yeah, I think it's super weird, at least in some cases here these ppl not wanting to play games with female mc's borders on misogyny at this point. It's like only in games with female mc's we have ppl asking about an option to choose genders or whatever. Like normally you only see such behavior with cishet men so that's why yikes. Interestingly I've also read about nonbinary players that somehow can play games with male mc's or where you can choose the gender but they won't play games with fem mc's (some without doubt bc they are just fetishizing bl - i'm saying that as a bl reader). And then i'm like where does the gender disphoria end where does the internalized misogyny begin, if we have ppl avoiding games bc they have female leads. I think it's awesome when a game lets one choose with the MC. But i would never avoid a game bc it doesn't have a female lead. And same should go for other ppl with other genders. The game is good, just play it. :) not like it makes soo much difference
I see that the demo has a female main-character, and that the addition of other genders might be a thing. I will be waiting to see if that happens before I play! I really hope it does because this seems like a game that is right up my alley.
I saw that the developer had some problems with mac, I hope that'll it get fix soon. I'll keep an eye out for the mac version to come out hehehe can't wait!
they talk about food in this game so much i'm so hungry now. kyle's face was red and it made me think of how much i love tomatoes so i need to go eat a healthy tomato based lunch. also i liked the purple guy but i couldn't figure out how to hang out with him at all. good game
i really loved the game! i recored me playing it and ran into some issues but i think u are already aware of those - still amazing so far! i also wanted to ask if i could upload the video on youtube- if u allow it!
i had some audio issues on my side (recordingwise so u will notice the background music being all the same xd and the Sound effects are also covered up.
Thank u again for letting me upload this- i cant wait to see more of ur work :3
Hi ! I really like the design and find the game interesting (I love the characters introductions and I am really curious about each one of them), but I just wanted to let you know that Mac users might not find the game as it seems that it's missing in the folder (at least when I extract it on my side T-T ?)
The only thing I hated about this demo is that you have to play as a girl and there are no gender options or at least written ambiguously, hopefully in an update this will change or I don't see myself playing this in the future.
Can you imagine if someone wrote the same comment under yaoi game, complaining that the MC is not a girl and the text isn't written ambiguously?? You should learn to respect projects made for female audience with female MC.
Nowhere does it tell that it’s intended for female only audience, hell just above your post the OP said that she’s willing to keep for both and yet she was downvoted. Yaoi games or mlm games are promoted as such, usually.
Edit: Though obviously if it was only otome I still understand and respect it nevertheless.
Yeah,, the thing is that this game participated also in the Josei Jam, that is a gender that goes for mature women, so it's natural that it goes with female pronouns for now.
I saw and to my understanding, it’s catered to that audience + mlm in future. They cannot just tag it yaoi / whatever mlm tag is now itself if it’s underway
maybe because yaoi and gay games are very rare and have little representation. And I’m not complaining I’m giving feedback, I’m a trans man and playing as a woman especially in dating sims makes me dysphoric. I really wanna play this game because it looks good but cannot due to the main character being a woman that’s why I posted what I posted. Maybe stop being low key homophobic especially during pride month
This game demo is an entry for OtomeJam, with the essential rule that the MC must be a woman or fem represent. OP abides the rules but may modify the pronouns in a future update, as mentioned by the OP.
Also, like the OP noted in this page's description; "Female Mc, might add more gender preferences" . Did you play the game without first reading what it was about?
Also you're not giving feedback if you're being opiniated.
Maybe stop using the suffix "phobic" to describe anyone who doesn't agree/support your opinion? And maybe start respecting fem represents in otome vns? Just like we respect male MCs in yaoi etc.
Btw, so according to your own logic you are heterophobic? Why else would you write a comment that you HATED playing as a girl in otome vn? (and a few days ago, before the OP edited the description of the demo, there was literally written: "Female MC")
No offense, but like others have stated, this game demo was released with the otome and josei jams that have been going on in the past two/three months.
This years bl/yaoi jam is still ongoing till august (btw i can recommend you actually look into all the entries of the past years bc yaoi/bl. soo many good ones, if you want recs. Just say it. On this site here at least yaoi/BL definitely are not rare! I'd even argue it's less common to find romance w/ NSFW written with fem characters that is not h3ntai. Plus of all queer groups gay men are the most represented, popular in all forms of media, just saying. GL and others don't even compare. Why? Internalized Misogyny.).
Also there are a lot of great games with customizable protagonists/pronouns (often with tags like Amare). Check them out first, before coming to games that are not fitting your criteria of game. Like you knew that with the tags so why look in Otome and Josei?
And also the dev even wrote that they might include other gender expressions for the MC in the future, soo..
But I think regardless, there's no need for every game to have customizable protagonists, esp. if that character is one of the genders that is significantly less represented. Idk you don't need to force yourself to play a game with a fem protagonist bc of your dysphoria but everyone else why shouldn't they, even if they aren't women themselves, be able to play such a game. We women have do it all the time, don't we? I don't see anyone under a BL complaining about not having a fem protagonist (which is good!), so why the other way around? Btw I disagree with one of the comments above: that's not heterophobia but more so (internalized) misogyny.
Ofc customizing protagonists is awesome, neccessary and should be a goal for inclusivity but yeah you can give a feedback that doesn't use words like "I hated" bc like someone else said, there's no need to put pressure on the dev like this. Aside from that one of the endings really piqued my interest, I'm excited to see where development goes for this <33 good luck!!

yes, i am making a mac ver soon for the next remake

is this gender neutral mc? like can we pick the gender of our mc
In the next update, yes. I chose the female pronounce only because it was for Otome jam
ah, alright. then i'll wait for the update to download
i'm so confused as to why it's so impossible for some ppl to play games with female mc's?! bc i mostly see such comments with "why is there no choosing gender or why only a woman?" in games with fem mc's.

That Kace line in the screenshot should read: <there are a lot of things you dont know about me yet...>
The banh mi line should say <wrapped around a half baguette loaf>
The load/save icons are the wrong way around.
Thanks, for your feedback, i am doing a remake for late Feb or March, so i just gonna ditch this ver
Thanks. I'm keen to support your game in the future. Best of luck W the dev cycle.
Mine is like this. No cute boys for me 😭
Hey there, i would suggest to redownload the game or you can wait for the next update for the game as i not really a great programmer, thanks for playing tho

There will be a mac ver on the extended demo, for now theres no mac ver, so sorry!!!

Omg finally somebody gets it!!! For me, food is a love language so i wanna incorporate more of SEA dishes. Also, did you mean to find Riku?
I really like the demo so far!
Thanks for playing <3

hey! I wanna know where did you find the game? in which folder? so i can move it, thanks for telling me!!!
Oh sorry for the misunderstanding, I didn't find the game in the available folders for the Mac version.
Thanks for telling me, i think might need to remove the mac version ᴖ̈ until i have this figure out

Oh also there's the Queer Games bundle sale still going on!
Your nickname speaks volumes, "gaymerr"...
There are plenty of games on the market written ambiguously, games where you can choose your pronouns and BxB/yaoi games.
There's no need to put pressure on developers who create projects targeted on female audience. R18+ otome games made for women are already extremely rare.

Thanks for review this game, i will work hard on in improving and finishing the game!!!
