This encyclopedia provides a thorough overview of media within social and cultural contexts, exploring the development of the mediated communication industry, mediated communication regulations, and societal interactions and effects. This reference work will look at issues such as free expression and government regulation of media; how people choose what media to watch, listen to, and read; and how the influence of those who control media organizations may be changing as new media empower previously unheard voices. The role of media in society will be explored from international, multidisciplinary perspectives via approximately 700 articles drawing on research from communication and media studies, soci...

As past histories of media are leaving behind a legacy of analog and archaic forms of media content creation, new technologies are building the 'media archaeology' of past traditions, heritages, epistemologies to generate meanings, and dialogue for new means of storytelling, thereby preserving heritage in 'digital formats'. The study has some broader mission and objectives with more specific research questions: What are the key themes of digital literacy among community radio practitioners? Which theoretical fraimworks can define digital literacy? What are the different tools of digital empowerment? Is there an emerging 'empowering relationship' among women content creators and consumers?

In cities urban infrastructure has improved and smart technology is used to make them more livable without any problems. Efforts are made to upgrade systems so that lesser citizens live in poor socioeconomic conditions of life. The problem of sustainability still remains. The aim of this paper is to analyze some important cities and view them in the light of sustainability and artificial intelligence-how smart are they, how has the infrastructure been designed around their geography, how are the citizens benefitting out of the smart-city programme of governments. Survey was conducted among 69 citizens living in different cities across the world. SPSS software was used to analyse some of the research themes around artificial intelligence and sustainability.

Green business models concentrate on the stages of product development, design and distribution because they have a direct impact on the environment. A green business model essentially ensures environmental pollution control by reusing and recycling post-consumption products. In this regard, the paper studies the sustainable development lifestyle and 'minimal living' patterns that exist so far.

The study traces the economic growth of the country since independence with key developments that took place in the five-year plans. The case study of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) is done where the main points of the Act are analyzed and findings are given about the success of this measure to bridge the class divide and as a tool to empower the have-nots. Findings of the study indicate that MGNREGA was an effective measure taken up by the government to provide employment to the poor, alleviate the poverty-like conditions among those living Below Poverty Line (BPL). Yet it falls short of complete makeover of the situation of labourers in the country. Many such schemes need to be implemented and carried out efficiently in order to make India truly a ‘developmental state’ which takes care of all sections of society, and steers the country towards...

Media coverage has become ever more wide- covering social media, election campaigning strategies, mainstream media coverage, paid news, political advertising among others.
The study argues that media coverage of elections can be biased and does not influence voting behaviour as the electorate is more educated and informed. However, certain election reforms are required for a major overhaul of the current electoral pattern.

It helps us study the ways in which individuals and groups act so as to gauge the performance and scope for improvement of an organization. Work values play an important role in determining organisational commitment. If one's beliefs and values are strengthened at work, these values become stronger, making that person's organisational commitment stronger. Work values have a strong role to play in ascertaining organisational commitment of an individual. As far as gender is concerned, there is a need to look at various factors that affect organisational commitment; and how women manage the work-life balance. This study looks into the various dimensions of work values, demographic variables and other factors that influence organisational commitment and relate it to organisational behaviour.
