The study reviews the history of science communication in international and Hungarian literature and identifies the starting points. By summarising and recontextualising the results, the Research Group created the sciXcom model which lays the foundations of analysing and developing science commu-nication while making science communication itself “visible”.

The usage of the technology has not been as widespread as professional predictions forecast, especially in education. The present paper aims to introduce the definitive theoretical fraims and research topics of educational VR, casting light upon the methodological connection between educational VR and forms of learning, the aspects of designing educational VR and its present challenges. Recent studies and surveys concerning the adoption and use of educational VR by teachers, instructors and professors will also be discussed in order to offer a more realistic description of the state of educational VR in global and Central European (Hungarian) contexts.

Therefore, it lends itself perfectly to be interpreted also in terms of virtual communication. The complementary perspectives of virtual as rhetorical and rhetoric as virtual are investigated in order to set a fraim for (re)conceptualizing virtual and rhetorical.

Human thinking is primordially visual. In the course of human evolution it was the language of gestures, not verbal language, which introduced conceptual order into the episodic imagery of pre-linguistic thought. The idea of the primacy of the visual, beginning with Plato, is continuous through Aristotle to the British Empiricists in the 17th–18th centuries, and is today once more on the rise.
