The University of Texas Marine Science Institute is an Organized Research Unit within The University of Texas at Austin, College of Natural Sciences. The Institute was established in 1941 and is Texas’s oldest marine research laboratory. The Institute and its facilities also house the Department of Marine Science for The University of Texas at Austin, where the majority of the faculty and students conduct their research and coursework at the Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in marine science.
