Transport traffic safety depends on many factors; one of them being the efficiency of the vehicle braking. The efficiency of the vehicle depends on the reaction of the driver, the braking system, the quality of tires, the characteristics of the road surface. The vehicle with the hydraulic braking system and a disc brake with the wheel has been investigated. The dynamic models of the disk brake assembly and the wheel have been constructed. The braking distances of the vehicle with a hydraulic ABS on the asphalt concrete pavement with shortwave roughness and different initial velocity are obtained.

The authors of this article focus on the simulation of the motor vehicle on a certain road and propose their specific solution of this problem. A mathematical model of the system motor vehicle -road is presented. The motor vehicle is simulated by concentrated masses interconnected by elastic and dissipative links. The presented model of the motor vehicle evaluates the movement of the motor vehicle body in space; the movement and turning of front and rear suspensions with respect to the body; the interaction of the wheel with the road pavement surface; the blocking of the wheel; the changing cohesive forces which influence the motor vehicle. The investigated road pavement surface is simulated by triangular finite elements, the certain height of road pavement surface roughness and the cohesion coefficients of road pavement surface and the motor vehicle wheel in the longitudinal and transverse directions of the wheel are selected in each finite element nodal point. The presented results illustrate: the motor vehicle movement trajectories braking at various initial conditions and on a certain pavement surface of the road section under investigation and the motor vehicle driving on the speed reduction bump (sleeping policeman).

Road traffic flows on a straight road segment are modelled in this article. The mathematical model of traffic flows has been constructed by using the method of lumped parameters. CO2, CO, CH, NOx, PM regression equations of internal combustion engines’ (ICE) emission has been developed. The accuracy of regression equations is 0.98÷0.99. The article presents assumptions for constructing the mathematical model, description of the mathematical model and gives simulation results. Traffic flow parameters, such as traffic flow concentration and traffic flow speed are presented as modelling results. ICE emission depending on the concentration and traffic flow speed are presented as well.

Th e article describes mathematical models of traffi c fl ows to initiate diff erent traffi c fl ow processes. Separate elements of traffi c fl ow models are made in a way to be connected together to get a single complex model. A model of straight road with diff erent boundary conditions is presented as a separate part of the network traffi c fl ow model. First testing is conducted in case the fi nal point of the whole modelled traffi c line is closed and no output from that point is possible. Th e second test is performed when a constant value of traffi c fl ow speed and traffi c fl ow rate is entered. Mathematical simulation is carried out and the obtained results are listed.

The improvement of the technical parameters of the fire vehicle implemented in a few groups is presented. Each parameter of these groups has a respective impact on the following features of the fire vehicle. The deficiencies of the main fire vehicles under operation, the improvement of the fire vehicles vacuum systems and extinguishing systems are presented.

In the article the classification of inpipe robots is presented, their advantages and imperfections are reviewed. The schemes of the construction of the wall press walking inpipe robot with a pneumatic drive and an inpipe robot with a vibratory pneumatic drive are given. The analysis of the identification method of leaks occurring due to damages of the linear part of the main oil pipelines is carried out. The momentum and continuity equations of viscous compressible fluid in a pressure pipeline are presented. Differential equations of fluid movement in the oil pipeline are solved by the method of characteristics. Variation diagrams of pressure and velocity of fluid in a leaking oil pipeline are presented. The impulsive extinguishing systems are presented.

Vibration manipulators are important in the process of creation of 1D – 3D manipulators and robots. The manipulator which is proposed here has the following advantages: simplicity of the structure and high coefficient of useful operation. This is because of the fact that the driving force provided by the vibration drive coincides with the direction of motion of the manipulator. Analysis of the regime of steady state motion is presented by using numerical methods. The obtained graphical relationships enable to choose the most effective parameters of the system in the process of design of vibration manipulators.

An investigation of tires behaviour on winter roads was always a high importance in the context of road safety. This paper presents the experimental investigation of tire performance on slush that is identified as two mixtures: a mixture of snow and water, and a mixture of crushed ice and water. The measurements of longitudinal and lateral performance including tire traction, braking and cornering were performed. Tire traction tests were performed for both mixtures with different amount of material. A decreasing in the tire friction was observed when amount of the mixture of snow and water was increased twice. For the mixture of crushed ice and water, an opposite trend was observed. The standard deviation values for the peak force coefficient showed a good reproducibility and reliability of performed tire tests.
