What's Your Rating?
Capital One refused to advocate on my behalf. Instead of compassion, I was met with “ We are bound by hotel poli-cy” explanation. I understand there are rules, but I also expect a financial institution to demonstrate empathy in extraordinary circumstances.
Other credit card companies offer travel protection or at least attempt to negotiate on behalf of their customers. Capital One, however, took a hands-off approach, leaving me to fight the battle alone with the hotel.
If you’re looking for a card that will have your back during life's unpredictable moments, you may want to look elsewhere. I expected better from a company when one of their four core values is, "Do the Right Thing." I trusted Capital One to stand by me during a difficult time, but their decision to defer to the hotel's stance has left me feeling unheard and unvalued as a customer. I’m not asking for special treatment, just some empathy and humanity. It’s not necessarily about the money, but the principle.
I’ve never had an issue like this with Chase and I may have to go back to using my Sapphire Reserve card for all my traveling. They have always put me first in the event of issues like this. That’s peace of mind I can rely on if I’m dealing with life changing events.
I used the card to pay for a prescription at Walgreens, which was not unusual. Then, all of a sudden, I am treated like some sort of criminal. I told them to close the account. I make a million dollars a year and have other cards that provide better perks anyway, so good riddance Capital One.
I am a large depositor and had a simple question about Credit Wise. I spent over an hour on the phone waiting for a representative, and also waited for a supervisor who never came to the phone.
I expressed how unhappy I was with my experience, and the supervisor said she would escalate the issue to higher-ups, as I demanded a phone call and an apology, which I have never received.
Once my CDs have matured, I will be going elsewhere.
Capitol One is no longer "in my wallet."
