Necessary and sufficient conditions for the linearization of the one-dimensional Itô stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion (fBm) are given. Stochastic integrating factor has been introduced. A modified Milstein method has been developed to obtain numerical solutions. Analytical solutions have been compared with the numerical solutions for linearizable equations.

In respect of quality and importance there is often a culmination in the second or third edition. Eck's book on fans will probably have a similar fate except that it will almost certainly outlive its fifth decade unless in the meantime an entirely new work appears based on more modern concepts and taking into account the latest work in the field of research into turbomachinery. Up till now 'Eck' has been the only standard work in German which has always been quoted either with approval or sometimes critically. It contains a lot of interesting material, and covers the German literature well, especially with regard to the use of fans.

We consider the Universe deep inside the cell of uniformity. At these scales, the Universe is filled with inhomogeneously distributed discrete structures (galaxies, groups and clusters of galaxies), which perturb the background Friedmann model. Here, the mechanical approach (Eingorn & Zhuk, 2012) is the most appropriate to describe the dynamics of the inhomogeneities which is defined, on the one hand, by gravitational potentials of inhomogeneities and, on the other hand, by the cosmological expansion of the Universe. In this paper, we present additional arguments in favor of this approach. First, we estimate the size of the cell of uniformity. With the help of the standard methods of statistical physics and for the galaxies of the type of the Milky Way and Andromeda, we get that it is of the order of 190 Mpc which is rather close to observations. Then, we show that the nonrelativistic approximation (with respect to the peculiar velocities) is valid for $z \lesssim 10$, i.e. approximately for 13 billion years from the present moment. We consider scalar perturbations and, within the $\Lambda$CDM model, justify the main equations. Moreover, we demonstrate that radiation can be naturally incorporated into our scheme. This emphasizes the viability of our approach. This approach gives a possibility to analyze different cosmological models and compare them with the observable Universe. For example, we indicate some problematic aspects of the spatially flat models. Such models require a rather specific distribution of the inhomogeneities to get a finite potential at any points outside gravitating masses. We also criticize the application of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter solution to the description of the motion of test bodies on the cosmological background.

A new definition is given for both exact and quasi symmetries of Itô and Stratonovich dynamical control systems. Determining systems of symmetries for these systems have been obtained and their relation is discussed. It is shown that conserved quantities can be found from both exact and quasi symmetries of stochastic dynamical control systems, which includes Hamiltonian control systems as a special case. Systems which can be controlled via conserved quantities have been investigated. Results have been applied to the control of an N -species stochastic Lotka-Volterra system.

As changes in landuse and the demand for water accelerate, regulators and resource managers are increasingly asked to evaluate water allocation against the need for protection of in-stream habitat. In the United States, only a small number of river basins have the longterm hydrograph data needed to make these assessments. This paper presents an example of how to bridge the conceptual and physical divide between GIS-based watershed modelling of basin-discharge and in-stream hydraulic habitat models. Specifically, we used a Soil andWater Assessment Tool (SWAT) model for the Hillsborough River to produce data for use in a Physical HABitat SIMulation (PHABSIM) model of the same river. This coupling of models allowed us to develop long-term discharge data in ungauged river systems based on watershed characteristics and precipitation records. However this approach is not without important limitations. Results confirm that accuracy of the SWAT-predicted hydrograph declines significantly when either the DEM resolution becomes too coarse or if DEM data are resampled to a coarser or finer resolution. This is due to both changes in the size and shape of the river basin
with the varying DEMs and subsequent shifts in the proportions of land use, soils and elevation. Results show the use of 30m DEMs produced hydrographic patterns amenable for using in-stream habitat protocols like PHABSIM model, especially where little or no hydrographic and land use information exists.

The time-dynamics of quantum correlations in the quantum transverse anisotropic XY spin chain of infinite length is studied at zero as well as finite temperatures. The evolution occurs due to the instantaneous quenching of the coupling constant between the nearest-neighbor spins of the model, which is either performed within the same phase or across the quantum phase transition point connecting the order-disorder phases of the model. We characterize the time-evolved quantum correlations, entanglement and quantum discord, which exhibit varying behavior depending on the initial state and the quenching scheme. We show that the system is endowed with enhanced nearest-neighbor bipartite quantum correlations compared to that of the initial state, when quenched from ordered to the deep disordered phase. However, nearest-neighbor quantum correlations are almost washed out when the system is quenched from disordered to the ordered phase with the initial state being at the zero-temperature. We also identify the condition for the occurrence of enhanced bipartite correlations when the system is quenched within the same phase. Moreover, we investigate the bipartite quantum correlations when the initial state is a thermal equilibrium state with finite temperature which reveals the effects of thermal fluctuation on the phenomena observed at zero-temperature. Finally, an analogous analysis is carried out for zero temperature next-nearest-neighbor quantum correlations.

Solutions are needed for increasing the material removal rate without degrading surface quality in micro-electrical discharge machining (μ-EDM). This paper presents a new method that consists of suspending micro-MoS 2 powder in dielectric fluid and using ultrasonic vibration during μ-EDM processes. The Taguchi method is adopted to ascertain the optimal process parameters to increase the material removal rate of dielectric fluid containing micro-powder in μ-EDM using a L 18 orthogonal array. Pareto analysis of variance is employed to analyze the four machining process parameters: ultrasonic vibration of the dielectric fluid, concentration of micro-powder, tool electrode materials, and workpiece materials. The results show that the introduction of MoS 2 micro-powder in dielectric fluid and using ultrasonic vibration significantly increase the material removal rate and improves surface quality by providing a flat surface free of black carbon spots.

This project centered on the development of a linear reservoir response model for an unspecified watershed in Oklahoma. I was tasked with analyzing a rainfall hyetograph and corresponding watershed outflow from a past storm event, determining a range of appropriate parameters from this analysis, using these parameter to develop a series of different linear watershed models, calibrating these models to match the given hyetograph of the past rainfall event, and applying these models to predict the outflow of a future storm event. A significant portion of this project required assumptions inferred from the brief watershed description and the observed characteristics of the outflow curve of the watershed’s response.

A critical review is presented on the most recent attempt to generally explain the notion of “statistical symmetry”. This particular explanation, however, is incomplete and misses one important and essential aspect. The aim of this short note is to provide this missing information and to clarify this notion on the basis of a few instructive examples.

This research was carried out in the Bolgatanga Municipality to analyze the effect of climate variability on crop yield. Secondary data from 1991 to 2009 were collected from Ghana Meteorological Service and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The crops studied were: Maize, Rice, Millet and Groundnut. From the study, the lowest rainfall was in 2004 with a value of 827.3mm and the highest rainfall was in 2009 with a value of 2186.6mm. The average rainfall for the period under study was 1140mm. The average maximum and minimum temperature values were 34.5 0 C and 22.7 0 C.The highest relative humidity was in 1996 with a value of 48 % and the lowest value of 13 % was registered in 1995.The average relative humidity for the period under study was 41%. The highest and the lowest yield for Maize under the period of study were 2.1ton/ha and 0.4ton/ha respectively with an average yield of 1.20ton/ha. Rice had a value of 3.3ton/ha as the highest yield and 1.2ton/ha as the lowest yield with 2.0ton/ha as the average yield. Groundnut and Millet had 1.4ton/ha and 1.7ton/ha as the highest yield but 0.5ton/ha and 0.6ton/ha as the lowest yield with 0.8ton/ha and 0.9ton/ha as the average yield respectively.
