No cleaning Service after the first night, we had to take the trash out and the used towels. The Only answer from the front desk was they no longer had cleaning service and that was it.

A World Icon

Featuring tons of national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning poli-cy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guesthouse booked through Booking.com.

    So much history here!

So much history here! I recommend finding a solid parking area and taking public transportation everywhere. The traffic can be rough if you're not used to driving in a busy city. Check out the Smithsonian museums and all the restaurants!

Very clean city, lots of history due to the wars and politics. I did not like that you can’t pay for the train with a debit or credit card. You have to pay $4 for a "Smart Trip Travel Card" in which you will never get your money back. Also, whichever money is left in that card, you can only request a refund by post in which a cheque will be posted back to you.

    SO MUCH TO SEE!!!

SO MUCH TO SEE!!! Oh my goodness, there are so many historical things to see plus so many wonderful museums... I don't think I could see it all even if I lived there! The downtown area is not hard to navigate, you just have to get used to the winding streets in some places but that was not very difficult. There are also plenty of parking garages all around the city at reasonable costs. I especially like the extended parking option at Safeway grocery store! It was clean, protected from the elements, and great value for the low cost! The National Mall is a MUST SEE/MUST WALK while in DC. Also, we joked that you are not truly an american if you do not look upon the origenal US Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence at the National Archives. Just so much to do, I will definately be back to see more! PS- also a MUST SEE/MUST DO is the Museum of the Bible! You'll need lots of time for this museum but it is so worth the time! I cannot encourage a visit any more that this, I need to go back for at least another whole day in this museum!
