Filing a Damage Claim with Us

If you believe your vehicle or mailbox was damaged on a state road, you can submit a claim by choosing one of the options below. You can find out if your incident occurred on a state or town road by visiting the State Road or Local Road? section of this page. RIDOT can only process claims for state roads.

File a Pothole Damage Claim

Start your pothole damage claim by clicking on the button below. Please remember, RIDOT can only process claims for incidents that happen on state roads. NOTE: All pothole claims must be received within 7 days of the incident.

THERE IS A SPECIAL LAW IN RHODE ISLAND THAT CAPS POTHOLE CLAIM REIMBURSEMENT AT $300.

Submit all other non-pothole damage claims by clicking on the button below. Please remember, RIDOT can only process claims for incidents that happen on state roads. RIDOT does not handle property damage claims in excess of $5,000 or incidents involving personal injuries. The R.I. Office of Attorney General is the designated attorney for service in an action against the State of Rhode Island. NOTE: All construction zone claims must be submitted within 60 days of the incident.
