We Are JPEO

The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) manages our Nation’s investments in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense equipment and medical countermeasures (MCMs).

The JPEO-CBRND leads, manages, and directs the acquisition, fielding and sustainment of CBRN sensors, protective equipment, medical countermeasures, specialized equipment for U.S. Special Forces, integration and information management systems, and defense enabling biotechnologies. The organization also works closely with various government agencies that need CBRN defense equipment. The JPEO-CBRND is one of the four components of the Chemical and Biological Defense Program, which is led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense. While JPEO-CBRND receives guidance and oversight from the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense, the organization’s acquisition authority comes from the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)).
