A federal law enacted on August 10, 2022, that allows certain individuals, including veterans, who were previously exposed to contaminated water at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987, to file a claim for damages with the U.S. government.
A legally authorized representative can file a claim on behalf of another. During the processing of such a claim, the Department of the Navy will request evidence from the filer of their legal authority to act on the behalf of the injured party. Claimants are strongly encouraged to consult with a legal professional concerning the requirements to become an authorized representative.
