Do you know what to do during extreme weather? Each year, people in this country are killed or seriously injured by all types of extreme weather, despite advanced warning. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) initiative is about helping our nation become ready, responsive, and resilient to extreme weather, water and climate events. As part of the WRN initiative, NOAA partners with a vast network of government, non-profit, academia, and private industry organizations to further increase the reach of this initiative. In turn, these partnerships can save lives at home, in schools, and in the work-place. These invaluable partners are known as WRN Ambassadors.

Expectations

Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassadors serve as change agents and leaders in their communities by:

• Becoming "weather-ready"
• Promoting awareness of and preparedness for hazardous weather
• Providing incentives to your constituents and stakeholders to become more resilient

• Advancing outreach to vulnerable communities

To support your efforts, NOAA will:

• Provide outreach content about creating a Weather-Ready Nation
• Provide updates on newly operational NOAA products, services, or data

• Work with WRN Ambassadors to explore innovative collaborations to promote disaster preparedness

Who Can Become a WRN Ambassador?

WRN Ambassadors can come from a wide range of backgrounds. These include, but are not limited to:

• Any organization across all levels of government
• Businesses large and small
• TV, radio, and print media
• Academia
• Non-profit and non-governmental organizations
• Homeowner associations

• Religious establishments
