An ice storm on January 8th through the 10th, back in 1968, covered
much of southeast Oklahoma with a thick layer of ice. As much as 1/2 inch accumulated on many roadways in parts of McCurtain, Atoka, Pittsburg, and Coal counties. Traffic problems were numerous, including a 40-car pile up on highway 69 between Atoka and Kiowa. |
