Fresh Snow and Temperature Outlook Ahead of Christmas Day

If you are looking for fresh snow by Christmas morning or are curious about potential travel disruptions, the best chances for at least 1" of new snowfall early this week exist across the mountainous West, Great Lakes, and Northeast. Patchy to areas of fog will be possible overnight tonight into Monday morning across western Oklahoma and western north Texas. Drivers be prepared for changes in visibility.
Light patchy drizzle will be possible Monday afternoon just ahead of an approaching weather system. Drizzle may impact parts of northern, central, south central and southeast Oklahoma.
Our next chance for measurable rain will arrive by Monday evening and continue into Tuesday. A few thunderstorms will be possible across southeast Oklahoma during the day on Tuesday, though severe weather is not currently expected.
Warm and dry conditions are expected on Christmas Day. Chances for rain will be increasing by the late evening hours.
Areas of fog and drizzle tonight into Monday with rain accumulating Monday night through Tuesday and again late Wednesday into Thursday.

Local Weather History For December 22nd...
Strong winds blew across Oklahoma on December 22, 1961. In Chickasha,
power lines were blown down, causing a fire that damaged a cotton
warehouse. Strong winds over northern Oklahoma that afternoon damaged
many roofs, blew down power lines, and shattered plate glass store
windows. A 75 foot section of a brick wall fell in Enid, and an oil
rig was toppled by the wind near Hennessey.
