  34. The second column of tables A.1, A.2, and A.3 contains p-values based on the method of Young (2016), while the fourth column contains p-values computed by randomization inference. The p-values test the sharp null hypothesis that assignment to the treatment group had no effect on anyone in the sample. To compute the p-values, we re-randomize 999 times while preserving the stratified design of the experiment, compute the ITT effect each time, and compare our initial ITT effect estimate to the distribution of ITT effects generated by the re-randomizations. If fewer than 5% of the ITT effects generated by the re-randomizations are greater in absolute value than our initial ITT estimate, then we can reject the sharp null hypothesis. Note that randomization inference makes no parametric assumptions and relies solely on the experimental design. None of our conclusions are altered by basing hypothesis testing on randomization inference.
