Eight colleges. One great university.

With approximately 10,000 students in every incoming class, we wanted a way to make your university experience feel more personal and approachable. As a UC San Diego undergraduate, you’ll be assigned to one of the university’s colleges, each with its own general education curriculum, support services, residential neighborhood, and distinctive traditions.

If you’re a first-year student, you’ll likely live at your college or in one of our other dynamic undergraduate communities. If you’re an incoming transfer student, you will have the option to live on campus in a transfer student centered living-learning community.

We do things a little differently than other universities, so you'll be free to pursue your chosen major no matter which college you attend. This approach gives you the unique opportunity to live and study alongside people with diverse interests, backgrounds and educational paths.

Why Did We Develop a College System?

Tight Community

You never know when or where you’ll meet your next best friend. The College System helps you meet new people from many types of backgrounds with lots of different interests.

Focused General Education

Each college has designed an intellectually stimulating general education curriculum that is aligned with the college’s philosophy.

A Holistic Approach

To help you maximize every opportunity, each college has a team of academic advisors who help with planning and goal setting as well as Student Affairs professionals who provide programming and leadership opportunities.

Every College is unique. And we love them all equally.

Every one of the colleges on campus features rigorous academics, world-class faculty and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. But each has a slightly different emphasis that makes it special.

Revelle

Purpose – Truth – Vision

At Revelle, our mission is to provide students with a rigorous general education that emphasizes both depth and breadth, a rich set of experiential learning opportunities, and a welcoming and supportive community where students can acquire the knowledge, skills, and expertise to succeed in a wide range of academic, professional, and personal settings.

Revelle College values each and every one of our students, faculty, and staff and embrace your commitment to excellence in education and community. We work hard to foster an equitable, inclusive, and diverse world at Revelle and UC San Diego.

Together, Revelle College students, faculty, and staff are a community acting together to address the challenges of our world today, through education, compassion, understanding, and acceptance of the value added by each and every one of us.

Scholastic Opportunity

Fuel your curiosity by taking a rigorous set of courses from a variety of academic disciplines inside and outside your major. With hands-on learning experiences and study abroad opportunities, Revelle College's academic curriculum allows you to excel in any field of study. This is why so many Revelle students pursue double majors, engage in research, and graduate with university honors.

Community and Tradition

Make new friends in an enthusiastic and welcoming community that will help you discover your passions. Leave your mark on the historic Revelle anchor, dance the night away during Revellution – Revelle’s music festival, and cheer at the annual Watermelon Drop, where the goal is to break velocity and splat records.

General Education Requirements

In addition to the University requirements, Revelle College students must complete the Revelle General Education Requirements.

For Transfer Students, the number of GE requirements will vary depending on your transfer status. Transfers with IGETC certification will still need to complete Revelle’s math (calculus) and natural science requirements. Revelle College does not accept UC Reciprocity.

For First-Year Students applicants completing California Community College coursework, please note: Neither IGETC certification nor partial-IGETC completion may apply toward the fulfillment of UC San Diego college general education requirements for incoming first-year students.
