Hello and Thank You for visiting the KY AgrAbility Website.

As of August 2019, UK’s Kentucky AgrAbility Project is no longer funded by a USDA/NIFA grant.  While we remain affiliated with the AgrAbility program, our services are currently limited to: Phone Referrals; Contact References for Assistive Technology; KY Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Referrals and Requests for Information/Pamphlets.  For any inquires beyond the services listed here, please contact the National AgrAbility Project on their website at http://www.agrability.org/, by mail at National AgrAbility Project, 225 S. University St., West Lafayette, IN 47907 or via phone 1-800-825-4264.

From 1992 to 2019, Kentucky AgrAbility helped Farmers, Ranchers, and their family members  across the Commonwealth continue their work in agriculture when facing limitations due to aging, disease, injury, illness, or other disability. The Kentucky AgrAbility Project was part of a national program funded by the National Institute of food and Agriculture that promoted independence for people in agriculture who want to continue to farm after experiencing a disabling condition. The University of Kentucky has partnered with Easter Seals Cardinal Hill to implement the program’s goals by providing education, resources, and technical assistance to those individuals and their families so they may continue to be successful in agriculture.

Farm families may feel that an injury or disability may make it too difficult to continue farming activities. But with our help, they can! Kentucky AgrAbility assists rural and farm families in overcoming limitations.

Kentucky AgrAbility was part of the National AgrAbility Project and existed as a partnership between the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, Kentucky State University and the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Please explore our pages to learn more about what we do.

Our Farm Equipment Modification Instruction Module received 2nd place honors from NISH. Carla Sanders, a practicum student with Kentucky AgrAbility, accepted the award at the NISH conference in New Orleans in May, 2005.
