Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS 2025), which will be held in Xiamen from January 14th to 17th, 2025.
There is a session on “Leveraging Autonomous Platforms to Study Marine Biogeochemistry and Ecosystem Dynamics” (description below) and please submit an abstract if you are interested!
Session Description:
The advent of various autonomous platforms, such as profiling floats, gliders, moorings, and surface vehicles, equipped with a diverse array of chemical and bio-optical sensors, has transformed our ability to observe the ocean. The unprecedented observational resolution achieved by these platforms provides powerful means to study biogeochemical processes, such as the cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen, as well as ecosystem dynamics on different spatiotemporal scales. Moreover, the data collected by these autonomous platforms usher the oceanographic field into an era of “big data”. Integrating AI technology and combining data from other observational platforms creates exciting opportunities for optimizing numerical models and developing 4-D products. In this session, we invite researchers to showcase how autonomous platforms are advancing our knowledge of marine biogeochemistry and ecosystem dynamics.
