The commercial acrylic copolymer Paraloid B72 (PB72) and a newly synthesized nanostructured mater... more The commercial acrylic copolymer Paraloid B72 (PB72) and a newly synthesized nanostructured material (AMF) bearing silsesquioxane, methacrylate and fluorine units were analyzed to assess their performances as protective coatings for the conservation of Neolithic Cucuteni ceramic pottery when submitted to UV ageing. In the context of comparative evaluation of the protective efficiency, the present paper reports the first use of a functional coating that operates via specific photochemical transformations at the coating-air interface as a UV resistant protection coating for cultural heritage artefacts.

This paper reviews the, so far available, paleorecords of Vitis sylvestris C.C. Gmel and Vitis vi... more This paper reviews the, so far available, paleorecords of Vitis sylvestris C.C. Gmel and Vitis vinifera L. from Romania. The study takes into consideration the presence of Vitis pollen from Holocene peat sediment sequences and archaeological context, but also the presence of macrorests from various archaeological sites that date from Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, and La Tène. Both paleobotanical arguments and archaeological discoveries support the theory that places the beggining of viticulture in Romania a few millenia ago, in Neolithic period. Also, written evidences (works of classical authors, epigraphical sources) confirm, indirectly, the presence of grapevine in La Tène period. Occurrences of Vitis vinifera and those of Vitis sylvestris manifest independently of the climate oscillations, being present both through colder and more humid episodes, as well as through drier and warmer events. The increasing visibility of the discipline reflects a mentality change in terms of research methodology in Romanian archaeology, especially in prehistoric archaeology. Considerații preliminare asupra utilajului litic șlefuit din așezarea cucuteniană de la Hoisești - "La Pod

Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988... more Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988, prin adunarea unor materiale ceramice, de către locuitorul I. Istov. Au urmat cercetări de suprafaţă efectuate între 1989-1991 de către profesorii Dumitru Boghian şi Mihai Istov din Târgu Frumos. Rezultatele acestor cercetări au fost parţial publicate în 1997 1 de Dumitru Boghian. În anii 2003-2004 au avut loc două campanii arheologice cu caracter de salvare, conduse de Nicolae Ursulescu, ale căror rezultate au fost publicate în Cronica 2003 2 şi Cronica 2004 3 . Prelucrarea primară a inventarului ceramic descoperit ne permite încadrarea cronologică a celei mai mari părţi a materialului în cea de-a treia etapă evolutivă a fazei A. Din punctul de vedere al situării fizico-geografice, aşezarea se află în bazinul inferior al Bahluiului, din partea de sud a Câmpiei Jijiei inferioare şi a Bahluiului (sau Câmpia Iaşului). Înălţimile medii absolute în zona comunei Dumeşti oscilează între 120-150 m, cele maxime aflându-se în dealul Bărboşilor şi dealul Păuşeştilor, iar cele mai coborâte se întâlnesc în şesul Bahluiului, în jur de 50 m 4 . Locuirea cucuteniană se află într-un meandru de pe stânga râului Bahlui, în dreptul podului care asigură legătura cu satul Hoiseşti, dinspre D.E. 587 Iaşi-Roman (la 19 km de Iaşi se desprinde D.C. 36A spre Hoiseşti (fig. ). Este o aşezare de luncă situată în şesul aluviocoluvial inundabil, de vârstă holocenă, al Bahluiului, la circa 500 m nord de contactul acestuia cu versantul, pe o mică ridicătură, datorată conului de dejecţie format de Valea Sărăturii, afluent de dreapta al Bahluiului. Locul aşezării are o altitudine relativă, faţă de restul luncii, de 0,5-1m. Fragmentul conului de dejecţie, cuprins de meandrul Bahluiului, a căpătat, prin aluvionări repetate, aspectul unui grind, ceea ce explică alegerea acestui loc pentru aşezarea comunităţii cucuteniene. Altitudinea relativă medie actuală a albiei majore a râului Bahlui faţă de talvegul râului este de circa 5-6 m (fig. ; 2). Deşi încercarea noastră nu este prima din literatura dedicată utilajului litic şlefuit, considerăm că demersul întreprins va aduce unele nuanţări şi clarificări asupra problemelor ridicate de acest tip de studiu.

Preliminary report</strong> <br> <br>First we present the location of Hoiseşti – "La Pod" settlement, also making a brief research history and a general description of the excavation. We then describe the methods we used for the typological classification of the lithic assemblage, proceeding then to the presentation of each class of tools identified. Based on the functional attributes of each tool type, corroborating it with data offered by other contemporary chipped stone assemblages, we try to define the specific of the economy of the Cucutenian community from Hoiseşti – La Pod, as reflected by its lithic industry.

Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988... more Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988, prin colectarea unor materiale ceramice, de către locuitorul I. Istov. Au urmat cercetări de suprafaţă efectuate între 1989-1991, de către profesorii Dumitru Boghian şi Mihai Istov din Târgu Frumos. Rezultatele acestor cercetări au fost parţial publicate de către Dumitru Boghian, în 1997. 1 Aşezarea de la Hoiseşti (Fig. 1) se află într-un meandru de pe stânga râului Bahlui, în dreptul podului care asigură legătura cu satul Hoiseşti, dinspre D.E. 587 Iaşi-Roman (la 19 km de Iaşi se desprinde D.C. 36A spre Hoiseşti). Este o aşezare de luncă, în albia majoră a Bahluiului, la circa 500 m N de contactul acesteia cu versantul, situată pe o mică ridicătură, datorată conului de dejecţie format de Valea Sărăturii, afluent de dreapta al Bahluiului. Fragmentul conului de dejecţie, cuprins de meandrul Bahluiului, a căpătat, prin aluvionări repetate, aspectul unui grind, ceea ce explică alegerea acestui loc pentru aşezarea comunităţii cucuteniene. Din punctul de vedere al stratigrafiei, au fost identificate trei niveluri de locuire aparţinând fazei Cucuteni A 3 ; au mai fost, de asemenea, identificate fragmente ceramice Cucuteni B, fără a fi însă asociate unor complexe arheologice. Aşezarea a fost afectată de ruperea malurilor Bahluiului, de diverse amenajări militare din al doilea război mondial, de lucrări edilitare, dar mai ales de recentele lucrări de regularizare a cursului râului, prin săparea unui canal de deviere şi construirea unui pod de beton, în cadrul programului SAPARD. Proiectul a afectat o suprafaţă de circa 2.500 mp, dar în momentul intervenţiei noastre, desfăşurate în anii 2003 şi 2004, sub conducerea lui Nicolae Ursulescu, a mai putut fi supravegheată doar o suprafaţă de 250 mp rezultatele fiind prezentate în Cronica 2003 2 şi Cronica 2004 3. În general, studiul ceramicii provenită din contexte arheologice s-a concentrat mai mult pe analizarea formelor şi decorului, produsele olăriei fiind considerate un element de o importanţă covârşitoare pentru stabilirea unei cronologii relative. Totuşi, în ultimele decenii acest tip de artefacte face obiectul unui alt mod de abordare, şi anume studierea sistematică a materiilor prime şi a pastei din care sunt realizate vasele ceramice, urmărindu-se astfel surprinderea unor date de ordin tehnologic şi economic. Also, the artefacts from inside the dwelling and from the surrounding features bear witness about prehistoric crafts like pottery manufacture, stone knapping and polishing, animal hard tissue working, about the relations with neighbouring cultural areas, and, last but not least, about the ritual behaviour of the Precucuteni communities.

The paper analyzes the archaeobotanical and archaeozoological remains originating from the middle... more The paper analyzes the archaeobotanical and archaeozoological remains originating from the middle Holocene (i.e. Chalcolithic site of Poduri- Dealul Ghindaru, in Eastern Romania, Bacău County). Poduri- Dealul Ghindaru site is the only tell settlement known in the area of existence of the Cucuteni culture, with inhabitation levels from Neolithic to the Bronze Age. In order to better understand the diet components of the prehistoric inhabitation belonging to the Cucuteni A and Cucuteni B phases, we follow evidence from archaeozoology, carpology, and palynology. For the carpological taxa, we calculate their ubiquity, diversity, and edibility score. The two sets of taxa are then compared in their similarity. Palynological data record the presence of cereal grains in all samples. Multi-analytical characterization of Cucuteni pottery

Abstract Based on a multi-pronged investigation involving a series of analytical techniques (XRD,... more Abstract Based on a multi-pronged investigation involving a series of analytical techniques (XRD, FTIR and micro-Raman spectroscopies combined with SEM/EDX and optical microscopies), the first in-depth study of the mineralogical composition of prehistoric Cucuteni type pottery was performed on samples belonging to Hoisești-La Pod site (Romania). The study allowed, for the first time, a highly detailed analysis of the multitude of aspects specific to the technological process of Cucuteni pottery production, starting with a deep insight into the characteristics of the raw materials, identification of the minerals present inside the ceramic bodies, the analysis of the pigments used for decorating the painted pots, as well as a thorough analysis of the factors influencing the obtaining of high quality ceramics.

Middle Holocene Landscape to the East of Carpathians: Bioarchaeological Considerations on the Chalcolithic Site of Hoisești (Iași County, Romania)

Bioarchaeological (palynological and archaeozoological) and archaeological studies carried out in... more Bioarchaeological (palynological and archaeozoological) and archaeological studies carried out in the site of Hoisești (Iași County, Romania), contributed to reconstruct the environmental context of the chalcolithic settlement. Evidences of diverse human activities in the area were also examined. This site of the phase A Cucuteni culture has been identified as a pottery production center and, unlike the vast majority of contemporary settlements, cereal cultivation is poorly represented and pig husbandry was preferred over cattle. Pollen analysis highlights the salinity of the soils from this area as well as significant anthropic influence of the landscape. The faunal remains from Hoisești present an important depreciation mainly because of precarious conservation due to water circulation and stagnation in sediment. Cultural factors were also involved in the bone fragmentation; we have identified marks of butchering, manufacturing, burning and probably trampling. The settlement of Hoisești has valorised a relative large faunal spectrum, 20 animal taxa being identified in the archaeozoological sample. The hunting almost equalizes the husbandry in importance, according to animal remains frequencies, and the forest species are dominant. Aquatic resources are also represented.

Altitudinea relativă medie actuală a albiei majore a râului Bahlui faţă de talvegul râului este de circa 5-6 m (fig. ; 2). Deşi încercarea noastră nu este prima din literatura dedicată utilajului litic şlefuit, considerăm că demersul întreprins va aduce unele nuanţări şi clarificări asupra problemelor ridicate de acest tip de studiu.

Preliminary report</strong> <br> <br>First we present the location of Hoiseşti – "La Pod" settlement, also making a brief research history and a general description of the excavation. We then describe the methods we used for the typological classification of the lithic assemblage, proceeding then to the presentation of each class of tools identified. Based on the functional attributes of each tool type, corroborating it with data offered by other contemporary chipped stone assemblages, we try to define the specific of the economy of the Cucutenian community from Hoiseşti – La Pod, as reflected by its lithic industry.

Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988... more Aşezarea cucuteniană din satul Hoiseşti (com. Dumeşti, jud. Iaşi) a fost descoperită în anul 1988, prin colectarea unor materiale ceramice, de către locuitorul I. Istov. Au urmat cercetări de suprafaţă efectuate între 1989-1991, de către profesorii Dumitru Boghian şi Mihai Istov din Târgu Frumos. Rezultatele acestor cercetări au fost parţial publicate de către Dumitru Boghian, în 1997. 1 Aşezarea de la Hoiseşti (Fig. 1) se află într-un meandru de pe stânga râului Bahlui, în dreptul podului care asigură legătura cu satul Hoiseşti, dinspre D.E. 587 Iaşi-Roman (la 19 km de Iaşi se desprinde D.C. 36A spre Hoiseşti). Este o aşezare de luncă, în albia majoră a Bahluiului, la circa 500 m N de contactul acesteia cu versantul, situată pe o mică ridicătură, datorată conului de dejecţie format de Valea Sărăturii, afluent de dreapta al Bahluiului. Fragmentul conului de dejecţie, cuprins de meandrul Bahluiului, a căpătat, prin aluvionări repetate, aspectul unui grind, ceea ce explică alegerea acestui loc pentru aşezarea comunităţii cucuteniene. Din punctul de vedere al stratigrafiei, au fost identificate trei niveluri de locuire aparţinând fazei Cucuteni A 3 ; au mai fost, de asemenea, identificate fragmente ceramice Cucuteni B, fără a fi însă asociate unor complexe arheologice. Aşezarea a fost afectată de ruperea malurilor Bahluiului, de diverse amenajări militare din al doilea război mondial, de lucrări edilitare, dar mai ales de recentele lucrări de regularizare a cursului râului, prin săparea unui canal de deviere şi construirea unui pod de beton, în cadrul programului SAPARD. Proiectul a afectat o suprafaţă de circa 2.500 mp, dar în momentul intervenţiei noastre, desfăşurate în anii 2003 şi 2004, sub conducerea lui Nicolae Ursulescu, a mai putut fi supravegheată doar o suprafaţă de 250 mp rezultatele fiind prezentate în Cronica 2003 2 şi Cronica 2004 3. În general, studiul ceramicii provenită din contexte arheologice s-a concentrat mai mult pe analizarea formelor şi decorului, produsele olăriei fiind considerate un element de o importanţă covârşitoare pentru stabilirea unei cronologii relative. Totuşi, în ultimele decenii acest tip de artefacte face obiectul unui alt mod de abordare, şi anume studierea sistematică a materiilor prime şi a pastei din care sunt realizate vasele ceramice, urmărindu-se astfel surprinderea unor date de ordin tehnologic şi economic. Gmel and Vitis vinifera L. from Romania. The study takes into consideration the presence of Vitis pollen from Holocene peat sediment sequences and archaeological context, but also the presence of macrorests from various archaeological sites that date from Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, and La Tène. Both paleobotanical arguments and archaeological discoveries support the theory that places the beggining of viticulture in Romania a few millenia ago, in Neolithic period. Also, written evidences (works of classical authors, epigraphical sources) confirm, indirectly, the presence of grapevine in La Tène period. Occurrences of Vitis vinifera and those of Vitis sylvestris manifest independently of the climate oscillations, being present both through colder and more humid episodes, as well as through drier and warmer events. Also, the artefacts from inside the dwelling and from the surrounding features bear witness about prehistoric crafts like pottery manufacture, stone knapping and polishing, animal hard tissue working, about the relations with neighbouring cultural areas, and, last but not least, about the ritual behaviour of the Precucuteni communities.

Poduri- Dealul Ghindaru site is the only tell settlement known in the area of existence of the Cucuteni culture, with inhabitation levels from Neolithic to the Bronze Age. In order to better understand the diet components of the prehistoric inhabitation belonging to the Cucuteni A and Cucuteni B phases, we follow evidence from archaeozoology, carpology, and palynology. For the carpological taxa, we calculate their ubiquity, diversity, and edibility score. The two sets of taxa are then compared in their similarity. Palynological data record the presence of cereal grains in all samples. Abstract Based on a multi-pronged investigation involving a series of analytical techniques (XRD,... more Abstract Based on a multi-pronged investigation involving a series of analytical techniques (XRD, FTIR and micro-Raman spectroscopies combined with SEM/EDX and optical microscopies), the first in-depth study of the mineralogical composition of prehistoric Cucuteni type pottery was performed on samples belonging to Hoisești-La Pod site (Romania). The study allowed, for the first time, a highly detailed analysis of the multitude of aspects specific to the technological process of Cucuteni pottery production, starting with a deep insight into the characteristics of the raw materials, identification of the minerals present inside the ceramic bodies, the analysis of the pigments used for decorating the painted pots, as well as a thorough analysis of the factors influencing the obtaining of high quality ceramics.

Middle Holocene Landscape to the East of Carpathians: Bioarchaeological Considerations on the Chalcolithic Site of Hoisești (Iași County, Romania)

Bioarchaeological (palynological and archaeozoological) and archaeological studies carried out in... more Bioarchaeological (palynological and archaeozoological) and archaeological studies carried out in the site of Hoisești (Iași County, Romania), contributed to reconstruct the environmental context of the chalcolithic settlement. Evidences of diverse human activities in the area were also examined. This site of the phase A Cucuteni culture has been identified as a pottery production center and, unlike the vast majority of contemporary settlements, cereal cultivation is poorly represented and pig husbandry was preferred over cattle. Pollen analysis highlights the salinity of the soils from this area as well as significant anthropic influence of the landscape. The faunal remains from Hoisești present an important depreciation mainly because of precarious conservation due to water circulation and stagnation in sediment. Cultural factors were also involved in the bone fragmentation; we have identified marks of butchering, manufacturing, burning and probably trampling. The settlement of Hoisești has valorised a relative large faunal spectrum, 20 animal taxa being identified in the archaeozoological sample. The hunting almost equalizes the husbandry in importance, according to animal remains frequencies, and the forest species are dominant. Aquatic resources are also represented.

As study of knowledge, epistemology attempts at identifying its necessary and sufficient conditio... more As study of knowledge, epistemology attempts at identifying its necessary and sufficient conditions and defining its sources, structure and limits. From this point of view, until present, there are no applied approaches to the Romanian archaeology. Consequently, my present paper presents an attempt to explore the structural characteristics of the knowledge creation process through the analysis of the results of a series of interviews conducted on Romanian archaeologists. The interviews followed a qualitative approach built upon a semi-structured frame. Apparent data saturation was reached after four interviews within initial target group (senior researchers with institutional authority). Under these conditions a decision was made to continue the interviews within a secondary control group (young doctoral or post-doc researchers guided by members of the initial target group) in order to both verify the observed data saturation and to assess the impact of the attitude of senior researchers towards scientific research on the younger generation. The preliminary results allow to assert that Romanian archaeology is still caught in a highly conservative and intradisciplinarian manner of knowledge production with a negative effect on both new knowledge production and future specialists' education.

The current paper continues our investigations into the possibilities offered by the conjoint use... more The current paper continues our investigations into the possibilities offered by the conjoint use of optical microscopy and digital image analysis for the characterization of pottery fabrics. The current study deals with the morphological characterization for the porosity of 25 samples from the Războieni – Dealul Boghiu Cucuteni phase A settlement. For each ceramic type defined during a previous study we have carried out partition clustering and a variability pairwise post-hoc analysis on a generalized least squares model. The results of the analysis allowed us to identify a connection between the previously observed macroscopic variability of the pottery shards and the variability of the microscopic porosity as an expression of the raw clay sources selection. We were thus able to further refine the techno-typological differences between the already existent pottery types and to advance as a possibility the existence within the settlement of two different philosophies concerning the pottery production chaine-opératoire: one emphasizing the use of naturally “standardized” high quality clay sources, and the other emphasizing human intervention and transformation of the raw materials.

The study focuses on 9 samples previously characterised through complex physico-chemical analyses... more The study focuses on 9 samples previously characterised through complex physico-chemical analyses, providing thus an interpretation baseline. In a first stage we assess the reliability of the images obtained to offer information on the general characteristics of the porosity structure. We then use non-supervised parti-tional clustering in order to explore the informative potential of the digital image analysis of the photographs obtained through optical microscopy. We conclude that the method successfully discriminates between different types of pottery types and of secondary pores, but larger sample collections need to be used for a thorough characterisation of primary pores and discrimination from secondary shrinkage cracking.

In a previous issue, we published an interpretation of the cattle figures painted on Cucuteni pot... more In a previous issue, we published an interpretation of the cattle figures painted on Cucuteni pottery as material expressions of human experience at the pre-conceptual level of understanding. Then we constructed a connection to the neuroscientific levels of consciousness, and we finally developed an interpretation based on the principles of affective neurosciences. We also highlighted the limitations of our approach and the need of independent verification of our findings. The purpose of the current article is to conduct such a verification. We will use the automatic sentiment analysis on the texts of the three most ancient writings presently deciphered: Sumerian literature, Vedic texts, and Old Kingdom pyramids texts. We have used a simple "bag of words" approach and conducted our analysis on two levels: contextual assessment of sentiments at text level, and evaluation of direct determinants (attributes). We have found that the information in the ancient texts does not contradict our initial study and appears to indicate the existence of emotional significance as originally assumed.

Ces ensembles sont étudiés d'un point de vue technologique, ce qui est nouveau pour le site. En particulier, ce dernier ensemble s'est avéré riche en matériel et parfaitement en place; il peut désormais être mis en parallèle chrono-stratigraphique avec le Gravettien ancien de Molodova V en Ukraine, assurant donc qu'à l'est des Carpates, les deux traditions, Aurignacien et Gravettien, ont été partiellement contemporaines l'un de'autre.

Fully deserved, this anniversary volume is dedicated to Mrs. Cornelia-Magda Lazarovici, who has d... more Fully deserved, this anniversary volume is dedicated to Mrs. Cornelia-Magda Lazarovici, who has devoted her entire career to the study of Prehistory in Romania and Southeastern Europe, succeeding, through remarkable contributions, to place her name among the well-known representatives of this field of Romanian and European archeology. The name of Cornelia-Magda Lazarovici is today a reference for those who are addressing major themes such as the chronology and evolution of the Cucuteni culture, the symbolism of various pieces of plastic art, the forms and the decoration of ceramics, the everyday life of that period, illustrated by household implements or architectural accomplishments. Some biographical data are essential for understanding the stages of Cornelia-Magda Lazarovici's intellectual and scientific development. Cornelia-Magda Istrati was born on 1 March 1953, in the old and always young Iași, the center of spirituality and Romanian culture. He grew up in a family environment favorable to the development of interest in humanities, his father being a remarkable scholar of the documents from the beginning of the modern age, with numerous and valuable specialized publications. Both parents, Maria and Corneliu Istrati, came from families with many children, so that even though she was her parents' single child, Magda grew up with numerous cousins, in a community characterized by warm and lasting relationships. After the primary and secondary studies in her hometown, she followed, in 1972-1976, at Alma Mater Iassiensis, the courses of the History Department of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the oldest University in Romania, bearing the name of its founder, the prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza-the maker of modern Romania. After graduating, she worked for a few years (1976-1980) in Vaslui, initially as a museographer with the County Museum (1976-1977), then as head of the County Cultural Heritage Office (1977-1980). During this period, she carried out excavations in several paleolithic sites in Vaslui (Măluşteni IV, Oțetoaia) and Botoşani (Mitoc-Valea lui Stan) counties, research whose results were utilized in scientific publications. At the same time, she is carrying out research on Neolithic sites, in Măluşteni-Via Schineni (Starčevo-Criş) and Poieneşti (Starčevo-Criş and Cucuteni cultures)-alone or as a member of archaeology research teams. Țurcanu), which reviews the essential data on Cucuteni civilization, in the form of an album with representative sites and pieces. She has also been involved in many other projects, being a team-member of research projects funded by the National Scientific Research Council. Among these, we mention "Geoscientific view of ceramic technology: evolution from Neolithic to Byzantine times within Romanian territory" (2012-2014, Project manager Corina Ionescu) and "The Ethnoarchaeology of Salt in the Inner Carpathian Area of Romania" (2017-2019, Project manager Marius Alexianu). One of the extremely ambitious, yet unfinished projects, on which Magda Lazarovici is involved with the scientific coordination team, is the Encyclopedia of Cucuteni-Trypillia Civilization, which will systematize relevant information throughout the area of the famous painted pottery civilization. Another project-organized together with Lăcrămioara Stratulat-still in its early stage, involves the investigation of a Cucutenian settlement together with specialists from the Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, given that there is a Neolithic culture in this country with a painted ceramics similar to the Cucuteni type. Along with the monographic work on prehistoric settlements in Poieneşti (published in 2015 together with Mircea Babeş), Magda Lazarovici has two other great works in preparation. One presents the results of the research carried out in the caves of Cheile Turzii area, and the second is the monograph of the Cucutenian settlement in Scânteia. Plenty could be said about the life and activity of Magda Lazarovici, about her projects! However, we would stop here! Magda shall certainly continue! On her anniversary day, we wish her, together with all our friends, colleagues and collaborators, health, strength to work and best results, to the measure of her tenaciousness and her dedication to Archeology! Happy birthday, dear Magda!

Starting from this realisation and the fact that landscape archaeology is actually a discipline that naturally glides through dogmatic disciplinary boundaries, we have decided that the word that would best describe our meeting in Iasi would be togetherness. Around this word we have gathered other seven that define the six themes of the conference: 1)Responsibility; 2)Defragmentation;
