The Arms of Sparta were an addition to Kratos' arsenal in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Kratos wielded these weapons against his enemies when he was a mortal general in the Spartan Army, before swore himself to Ares and eventually became a god of war. For Athena I wanted to use her spear and shield that she is well known for. On both pieces I wanted to make them include her patron animal, the owl. In contrast to Ares, I wanted Athena's weapons to be a more polished bronze to reflect her status of a more refined War Goddess.
