Instructor Bios

Charles Macedo is a physicist by training who litigates in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and copyright law, with a special emphasis in complex litigation and appellate work. Companies and individuals from a wide range of industries turn to him to develop offensive and defensive strategies for the development and enforcement of their patent and trademark portfolios.

Eric See manages the Operations side of Technology Ventures at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. In this capacity, he assists with managing the intellectual property data, financials and database system for the Technology Ventures Office. Eric received his Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Master of Arts in Teaching both from the University of Southern California.

Shemaila Sultana is the Assistant Director of Licensing in Rutgers University’s technology transfer office, Innovation Ventures. In her role, she is responsible for the management of intellectual property, licensing and related commercialization programs. Prior to joining Innovation Ventures, she was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Shemaila holds a Master’s in Biotechnology and a PhD in Biochemistry.  

Osama Zahid serves as the Director of Licensing, collaborating with researchers at Wake Forest Baptist to evaluate the commercialization potential of their innovative technology ideas. He holds a Master's degree in biotechnology and a PhD from Wake Forest University, where he developed single-molecule diagnostic tools for disease detection. Osama’s extensive experience allows him to relate to the scientific journey of potential inventors while guiding them to uncover the potential of their ideas in the marketplace. As a natural extrovert, he's passionate not only about realizing scientific breakthroughs but also about networking and building relationships with researchers.
