Brucella spp. are gram-negative intracellular alphaproteobacteria pathogens (Garrity, 2001). Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease with variable clinical manifestations (Xavier et al., 2009). In humans, brucellosis is characterized by intermittent fever, anorexia, weakness, and chronic inflammation in several organs as liver, spleen, heart, bone and brain (Young, 1995). In animals, Brucella causes reproductive failure associated with abortions, orchitis and epididymitis. Brucella ovis infects sheep, causing primarily epididymitis and occasionally abortion. It has not been associated with human infections (Xavier et al., 2009). Brucella virulence is associated with its ability to survive intracellularly (Celli et al., 2003; Billard et al., 2005; Carvalho Neta et al., 2008). Most Brucella species have smooth LPS, whereas Brucella canis and B. ovis have a naturally rough LPS due to the lack of the O-chain. The aim of the current study is to diagnose Brucella spp. infection using methods such as serology, bacterial isolation, and molecular analysis in buffaloes bred in Maranhão State. In order to do so, 390 samples of buffalo serum were subjected to serological tests, to Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT) and to 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) combined with slow agglutination test (SAT). Vaginal swabs were collected from seropositive animals and subjected to bacterial isolation and to generic PCR. According to the serological test, 16 animals had a positive reaction to the confirmatory test (2-ME/SAT). As for bacterial isolation, three samples resulted in the isolation of Brucella spp.-characteristic colonies, which were confirmed through PCR. These results confirmed Brucella spp. infection in the buffalo herd from Maranhão State.

Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA) BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer is considered one of the main types of cancer to reach the female population, especially in less developed regions. Comprehensive coverage of basic care is vital for the implementation of prevention actions such as vaccination campaigns and conducting preventive screenings for early detection and disease control. This study aims to analyze the coverage of basic care and the incidence of cervical cancer in Northeastern capitals, verifying a possible relationship between these data. METHODS: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach, based on secondary data collected from the Department of Primary Care (DAB) and the National Cancer Institute (INCA). We analyzed the coverage of basic care in capital cities in the northeastern region of Brazil in 2016 and the estimates of gross rates of incidence of cervical cancer per 100,000 inhabitants in the same year. RESULTS: From the data analyzed, it can be noted that, in 2016, the coverage of basic care (AB) in Aracaju-SE is 79.5% and the incidence rate of cervical cancer is 16.67 %. In João Pessoa-PB, AB coverage is 93.44% and the disease incidence rate is 19.39%. Regarding Recife-PE, it presents a coverage of AB of 61.56% and a incidence of cervical cancer of 17.74%. In Fortaleza-CE, AB coverage is 62.68% and the incidence of the disease is 21.47%. In São Luís-MA, AB coverage is 43.16%, while the incidence of cervical cancer is 42.58%. CONCLUSION: It is not possible to establish a direct relationship between the coverage of primary care and the incidence of cervical cancer in the capitals studied only with the type of analysis performed in the study, but it is observed from the data obtained that these variables communicate between each other in a decisive way. More scientific research should be developed on the subject, ratifying the role of primary care in the promotion of preventive health.

A Atenção Básica tem como um de seus princípios possibilitar o primeiro acesso das pessoas ao sistema de Saúde, inclusive daquelas que demandam um cuidado em saúde mental. Neste ponto de atenção, as ações são desenvolvidas em um território geograficamente conhecido, possibilitando aos profissionais de Saúde uma proximidade para conhecer a história de vida das pessoas e de seus vínculos com a comunidade/território onde moram, bem como com outros elementos dos seus contextos de vida. Podemos dizer que o cuidado em saúde mental na Atenção Básica é bastante estratégico pela facilidade de acesso das equipes aos usuários e vice-versa. Por estas características, é comum que os profissionais de Saúde se encontrem a todo o momento com pacientes em situação de sofrimento psíquico (BRASIL,2013). Cerca de uma em cada quatro pessoas que procuram a AB tem algum transtorno mental segundo a CID-10. Outros estudos mostram que se incluirmos também aqueles que têm um sofrimento mental pouco abaixo do limiar diagnóstico (os chamados casos subclínicos) a proporção chega a uma pessoa em sofrimento a cada duas pessoas que procuram a AB (GOLDBERG, 1995; BUSNELLO, 1983; MARI, 1987; FORTES, 2008). A psiquiatria tradicional tem se concentrado principalmente em elucidar as causas das doenças mentis e trata-las através de fármacos eficazes. No entanto, o uso de medicações tem sido insuficiente para promover o bem estar humano. Com isso objetivou-se elaborar um plano de intervenção baseado na Psicologia e Psiquiatria Positiva destinado a melhorar o bem-estar comportamental e mental dos pacientes com diagnostico de Ansiedade e Depresssão na população adscrita na UBS Nazaré, em Balsas, Maranhão. As pesquisas mostram que níveis mais altos de características psicossociais positivas, como resiliência, otimismo e engajamento social, estão associados a melhores resultados de saúde medidos objetivamente, incluindo maior longevidade e bem-estar subjetivo. Ao finalizar o estudo espera-se obter melhorias significativas na saúde mental e bem-estar emocional dos pacientes participantes, alcançados através de uma intervenção que aincorpora uma série de estratégias e exercícios derivados das disciplinas de Medicina do estilo de vida e Psicologia/ Psiquiatria Positiva.

However, fat grafting yields unpredictable results because the fat that is transferred can suffer variable degrees of fat reabsorption. It is necessary to identify methods and maneuvers to minimize reabsorption rates and provide predictable long-term results.
