The UW Climate Impacts Group hosts two federally-funded climate adaptation programs – the Northwest Climate Adaptation Center, funded by the Department of the Interior, and the Northwest Climate Resilience Collaborative, funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. The Climate Impacts Group also hosts the Office of the Washington State Climatologist and acts as a hub for scientific and technical support for climate resilience in Washington State.

Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center

The Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center is a federal-university partnership with leadership from the U.S. Geological Survey as well as a consortium of universities across the Northwest. The mission of the Adaptation Science Center is to deliver science to help fish, wildlife, water, land and people adapt to a changing climate.

The Northwest Climate Resilience Collaborative is a participatory research program designed to support frontline communities in climate adaptation. Started in 2021, the Resilience Collaborative brings together scientists and community leaders from universities and organizations across Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Through research, capacity building and collaboration, the UW Climate Impacts Group supports communities, tribes, local governments and state agencies in their efforts to create a more climate resilient future. Funded by the State of Washington, this work includes technical information, guidance and research related to assessing and preparing for the impacts of climate change.
