PBS Newshour 12/6/24: Biden's possible pre-emptive pardon of "political enemies" targeted by Trump
I found Jonathan Capehart's comments on Biden's use of his pardoning power interesting and insightful. However, I must admit I was deeply troubled over Capehart's comment concerning the prospect of Biden's issuing a preemptive pardon to protect "political enemies" Trump might otherwise go after. Trump is offering to weaponize the Justice Department, at which point those who tried to prosecute him and insurrectionists over the Jan. 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol could well feel the full effect of Trump's wrath. Even if people like Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, etc. are unlikely to be convicted, they could go bankrupt and/or have their reputations destroyed as they fight legal battles to defend themselves against the spurious charges of Donald Trump. I hate to think of these honorable citizens forced to choose between effectively "confessing" to crimes of which they aren't guilty (i.e., accepting pardons) or being driven to bankruptcy. My question: has anyone considered setting up a legal fund to help those not wishing to have such an awful choice inflicted on them? If no such fund has been set up, maybe it needs to be.
NPR
Dear Sir / Madam: I am a retired attorney living in Charlotte, N.C. I have listened regularly to NPR news programming for many decades. I am no longer a member of my local NPR station (WFAE), but in the past was a member in both NYC (WNYC) and Boston (WBUR). Sadly, NPR has changed from a credible news source into a blatant partisan propaganda organ. It is dismaying how prejudicial and partisan the news coverage & analysis by NPR has become. Notwithstanding recent on-air denials, by NPR radio hosts, which assert that NPR is a reliable and credible news source, it is patently clear that there is a built-in, if unacknowledged, bias at NPR which strongly favors a partisan Democrat agenda, and which fosters left-wing ideological points of view. On many of NPR's news programs, there is a host and several commentators who clearly are hostile to the expression of moderate and conservative points of view that differ with a lock-step WOKE analytical consensus. You would think that a roundtable of commentators could present a balance of viewpoints reflective of the variety of opinion throughout the country; after all, they're supposed to be "journalists," not propagandists. Instead, NPR's news programs rigidly adhere to and promote an extreme left-wing analytical framework, saimultaneously denigrating other points of view. NPR ought to be a marketplace of ideas for all of the American "public," including moderates and conservatives. Dismayingly, NPR has become a narrow-minded, one-party communications medium that eschews all moderate and conservative voices, and only presents so-called "stories" replete with anti-GOP, pro-Democrat, and WOKE bias. NPR is not a journalistic organization - rather, it has effectively become one-party Democrat propaganda. It is a travesty to call it journalism. Why shouldn't NPR serve as a forum for the exploration of a broad range of American viewpoints, reflecting a vast cosmpolitan nation. The way NPR practices journalism is a mockery of the profession of journalism, and worse is a great disservice to a great nation which deserves fair and balanced journalism, not one-party spin and disinformation. There is nothing "public" about public radio (NPR). The "public" includes millions of Americans who have moderate and conservative viewpoints, Yet NPR only validates extreme left-wing pro-WOKE and pro-Democrat talking points. It's clear that NPR actively suppresses moderate and conservative viewpoints, Indeed, many of its hosts and commentators openly denigrate any viewpoints that do not comport with their unacknowledged bias and prejudice against Americans with moderate and conservative views. NPR is not "public" radio; the name is a misnomer. NPR shold not receive federal funding until it has been reformed and commits to fairly presenting a broad diversity of viewpoints that reflects all Americans. Thank you for your consideration. Very truly yours, C*****n F. E*****s
The Flower Power Hour (Pacifica Show Proposal)
Hi, Please allow me to introduce you to an internationally syndicated radio show hosted and produced by me and my wife, MJ. The Flower Power Hour with Ken and MJ is a flashback to the Golden Age of Flower Power with music primarily from the ‘60s and ‘70s, plus period comedy snippets, all intricately woven into a Theater-of-the-Mind experience. The show is dedicated to the vibe of that era – peace, love, and rock and roll. We include at least one song or quote about peace in every show. The Flower Power Hour with Ken and MJ is heard on 190 stations in the U.S. and 20 foreign countries, including commercial and non-commercial FM’s, as well as stations on Dash Radio Network (Litt Live), Pacifica Network, NPR & iHeart Radio. Our show is endorsed by artists such as Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds, Richie Furay of Poco and Buffalo Springfield, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Edgar Winter, Rod Argent of the Zombies, Jim McCarty of the Yardbirds, Rick Wakeman and Jon Anderson of Yes, Judy Collins, and several dozen other others. Their liners and interviews give our show a level of credibility not heard on other programs of this type. The Flower Power Hour with Ken and MJ is provided at no cost to both commercial and non-commercial stations. Our show is a labor of love. We send you 3 Flower Power Hours per week via We Transfer. You can run it as a one, two, or three hour show on whatever days and at whatever times you choose. We also provide each hour in two parts in case you want to insert a commercial or station I.D. in the middle of the show. I’m a veteran of free-form, album rock radio with #1 ratings in both Dallas, Texas and on the ABC Radio Classic Rock Radio Network. My wife, MJ, met all the big artists in her youth while working backstage at St. Louis concert venues. She has handled booking and publicity for a major artist, and has co-hosted radio shows with me since 2006. If you’re interested, please check out our website flowerpowerhour.com for 3 sample shows. Hope we can work together! Peace, Love, and Rock n Roll, Ken Rundel 479-244-5132 flowerpowerhour.com All materials © Ken Rundel 2024
Why announce social media name when reporting
Why do public broadcasting announce the name of private social media companies such as x or Truth Social , twitter, Meta etc It seems like free advertising when there should be no advertising. The announcement should just say in social media in the same manner you might say network television or broadcast radio …? I
