Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators

The Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators (VSBPE) is a 13-member, teacher majority, policy-making board appointed by the Governor. The Board’s purpose is to oversee the training, licensing and professional standards of teachers and administrators. Its overarching goal is promotion of educator quality.

The VSBPE has two committees:

  • Licensure Committee: Oversees and supports local and regional standards boards, focuses on issues and policies related to teacher and administrator quality and oversees the teacher and administrator relicensing process.  Oversees the endorsement revision process for Licensing Rules.
  • Program Approval Committee: Oversees the program approval process for educator preparation programs, monitors alternative processes to educator licensure and oversees the initial licensure process
