Overly detailed

edit

Enormous amounts of overly excessive and pedantic detail was added to this page in 2020 and 2021 by AlbionMike76. This has been removed. Such information might possibly be of interest to somebody if it were on this editor's own website or WordPress site, but it is far too overly detailed for Wikipedia. I initially added the "Overly detailed" template but decided to revert to a previous version. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 03:11, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Surely, it'd be better to remove the uncited content; it looks like there were a significant number of changes apart from that which were reverted. jp×g 03:16, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The editor AlbionMike76 added so much trivial detail to this tiny Melbourne suburb that is really only an area of the larger suburb of Sunshine, Victoria that I doubt any editor has time to go through it all. It would therefore be easier to revert first and then sift through the mountains of trivial information he added to add those few things of importance he added back in. To me I think AlbionMike76 is using Wikipedia to add info of little or no interest to anyone and it would be better for him to set up his own personal website or blog for this. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 03:28, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
For instance AlbionMike76 added overly detailed information about train times from Albion station when that info isn’t even on the Wikipedia page for the station. That info could conceivably be moved to the train station's page but as far as I’m aware no other train station in Melbourne has that level of detail either. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 03:44, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

A lot of the text added to this page seems to have been copy and pasted directly from external websites.

For instance

1) the text:

GraceWest Bible Church is a church of ordinary people who have been transformed by an extraordinary gospel – Jesus Christ died and was raised so that sinners would be reconciled to God. We have a passion to proclaim and live this message.

is taken directly from https://gracewest.org.au/what-to-expect/ which is copyrighted.

and

2) the text:

Western Eagles Football Club (WEFC), formerly K.S Polonia and Polonia Maribyrnong SC, is a not-for-profit football (soccer) club that was established in Melbourne in 1950, by Polish emigrants. The club is now based at 19 Carrington Drive, Albion, 3020, at the Polish Sports and Recreation Centre (Polish Club Albion), where it has two playing pitches.

is taken from https://westerneaglesfc.com.au/history/ which is also copyrighted.

This copyrighted text must be removed from Wikipedia regardless of the excessive detail accord to against Wikipedia guidelines. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 15:52, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Support removal of the entire blurb after GraceWest Bible Church - and the unbolding of the church names in the list. Even if this wasn't a copyvio, it seems to be spam. — xaosflux Talk 14:42, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Trim the part about the football club, it certainly doesn't need a street address, and as it has an article it doesn't need an explanation of its founders. — xaosflux Talk 14:44, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support reverting the entire page back to the version before the excessive detail started to be added by AlbionMike76 whose only edits are for this Albion, Victoria page. His account seems to have been created solely to edit this page as he has no other edits. The version this page should be reverted to is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Albion,_Victoria&oldid=1041090484. We can then use this page version as a baseline for any additions from any user. There is simply far too much detail to be re-examined on the page as it stands now on clubs, churches, and other organisations that are not noteworthy, not really about the suburb, and in any case are full of copyright violations. It would take far too much time to go through the page and there have been very few contributing editors in the last year or so working on this page to realistically believe we will find willing editors to spend their time on it.122.150.83.215 (talk) 05:02, 31 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Albion, Victoria edit warring

edit

Editor AlbionMike76 has not contributed to Talk page so far even though I have asked him to multiple times via the edit summary (only way to communicate to him). I have been accused by him of bullying and belittling which I reject, though I have been rather direct in my opinion of the excessive detail he had added to this page on a tiny locality (1 sq mile in area, ~4,700 inhabitants) which is really only a mini-suburb of Sunshine, Victoria and only has been considered a separate suburb as it has a train station called “Albion” in it. (I have a print street directory from 1995 which still calls the area “Sunshine”.) Not sure how this can progress if he continues to not use Talk page. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 07:15, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please add a copyright violation template to this page. There are multiple copyright violations on it. Please see Talk page for just two of them. 122.150.83.215 (talk) 15:45, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done it is not clear what exactly it is you want injected; also: copyvio's should be removed - not templated. — xaosflux Talk 14:39, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
